About This Role
The Project Architect is responsible for designing single-family projects from beginning stages of design approval through permit submittal. Day to day, this role will create new luxury home designs, work with local jurisdictions on permitting, and research new market designs. Big picture, you will create and execute our home designs, expedite permitting and execute home completion. The Project Architect will partner with the Architecture team and the Director of Production Architecture to help build out the scalability of key functions and participate in exciting initiatives we’re bringing to MN!
 
On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include
  • Leads and performs the creation of BIM models and Permit Submittal Drawings for multiple concurrent single-family residential projects in MN Custom Homes’ architectural project workflow.
  • Effectively resolves technical and design challenges in the document production process.
  • Ensures adherence to documentation quality and completeness standards.
  • Coordinates with the work of other team members and consultants.
  • Completes Permit Submittal documents in compliance with local codes and review standards.
  • Identifies opportunities and drives continuous improvement related to technical architecture and design documentation.
  • Partners cross functionally on projects and initiatives as needed or required.
  • Proactively partners with and builds strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders across the organization at all levels.
  • Stays informed and up to date on best practices in residential design, documentation, and construction.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical expertise in single-family residential architecture.
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and pro-actively using creative application of technical expertise.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to effectively multitask and juggle simultaneous demands while remaining flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction or oversight.
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and make reasonable, rational, quick decisions while under pressure and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Ability to adopt MN processes and standards.
  • Ability to model and reinforce actions and behaviors consistent with the Company's values, mission and culture. 
What You Bring to MN Custom Homes
  • Professional degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Professional Registered Architect (RA) preferred.
  • 4+ years’ post-graduate experience in a technical architecture role producing design deliverable documentation for permit submittal required.
  • 4+ years’ experience with wood-frame residential architecture preferred.
  • Experience with construction administration or general contracting in a technical architectural capacity considered.
  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This position requires frequent use of a computer, including keyboard functions and visual acuity of 20 inches or fewer on a daily basis.
  • Frequent sitting (up to 8 hours a day in total). Occasional standing and walking.
  • Must be able to work in office Monday – Friday, within core business hours of 8AM-5PM

  • Some local travel in larger Seattle and Bellevue areas may be required periodically.

Hours & Compensation 
This is a full-time position paying $92,450 - $138,700 (+ discretionary bonus). The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Individual placement within a salary range will vary based upon factors including but not limited to candidate experience, knowledge, individual, skills, and organizational performance.
