We have an immediate opening for an SVP, Managing Director, Travel Desk in our Overland Park, KS office. The SVP, Managing Director of TravelDesk will lead all aspects of the TravelDesk operating brand. The person in this role will ensure TravelDesk’s commercial success through financial management, continued improvement and evolution of products and services, and leadership of a best-in-class team. TravelDesk operates both as a programmatic product of MMGY Media & Analytics and as an independent brand. Part of MMGY Global, the world’s leading marketing services agency for the travel sector, TravelDesk blends programmatic strategy with innovative data and creative products built for the travel industry to deliver highly successful campaigns for global travel clients.\

 

This role sits within the Media & Analytics division but works across the global company to contribute to thought leadership and share subject matter expertise. 

 

This role in a snapshot 
  • Lead a product and brand within the Media & Analytics business unit that continues to grow in revenue. ● Maintain advanced knowledge of trends and industry best practices related to media, data and ad-tech trends relevant to the programmatic space. 
  • Lead TravelDesk’s Campaign Planning and Strategy, Sales and Campaign Management teams. ● Understand and develop use cases for new media and product solutions to support agency media and external client/agency teams 
  • This person will report to the EVP Media & Analytics and help ensure continued synergies, process integration, and shared third-party resources (where appropriate) to drive an integrated global approach to paid media across all MMGY Global brands. 
  • Working collaboratively with the SVP of Data Analytics, the SVP MD will support their vision and product development of the adops and analytics team supporting the TraveDesk brand 
  • Provide the vision and direction of TravelDesk as a brand for growth and innovation, acting as a thought leader inside and outside the company. 
  • Drive innovation for long-term growth while also considering immediate commercial priorities. 
  • The SVP MD TravelDesk is responsible for cross-office connectivity and leadership of the TravelDesk team regarding everything from the process, staffing, financials, client support, and growing the capability within MMGY and beyond. 

 

Core Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Maintain benchmark operating margins without sacrificing the quality of programmatic services delivered to clients. 
  • Drive operations, activation and innovation of programmatic media in the travel landscape 
  • The leader of this team will continue to position MMGY and Traveldesk as the thought leader in programmatic and travel media and collaborate within other agency leaders and to bring unique solutions forward 
  • Strong understanding and practical experience in growing a sales team 
  • Brainstorm and align with VP/SVP counterparts across MMGY to elevate product and services for all clients 
  • Proven track record of success in driving revenue and optimizing yield. 
  • Identify strategic opportunities and contribute to the development and implementation of division goals. 
  • Reporting to the EVP Media & Analytics, Americas lead the vision and growth plan for TravelDesk, this role will be responsible for the continued strategic development and evolution of the brand. This will include
  • developing annual strategic plans that help achieve the global company's business goals, collaborating with other global leaders to innovate service offerings that continue to meet the needs of the industry and our global brands, and actively maintaining relationships with clients and partners within the industry. 
  • This role is responsible for meeting annual revenue projections, margin/profitability targets, and accurately forecasting revenue on a quarterly and monthly basis. 
  • Management of brand operational costs such as salary budgets, freelance costs, bespoke technology platforms, staff training and discretionary budgets with the guidance of the EVP Media & Analytics and global finance team. 
  • Working closely with the SVP, Data Strategy & Analytics, to lead revenue reporting for senior global leadership 
  • Develop & upskill talent to stay on top of industry trends, new platforms, emerging technologies & opportunities to bring to clients. 
  • Proactively educate internal and external clients on programmatic strategy 
  • This position will work closely with other senior leaders across the organization and be expected to collaborate in key global initiatives. 

 

Qualifications and Experience 
  • A proven track record in programmatic advertising sales and strategy, either agency side or vendor side, with a minimum 15 years experience. 
  • Experience managing a diverse and dynamic team across multiple offices 
  • This leader will possess an entrepreneurial startup mentality 
  • Conversant with core programmatic advertising technologies and buying structures. 
  • Experience working in a client-facing sales/strategy/consulting capacity. 
  • Experience working with data partners and vendors to deliver innovative programmatic solutions. 
  • Highly organized and methodical in approach, as well as having the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and marketing personnel at all levels, coupled with good interpersonal skills. 
  • Must be proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
