Purpose / Project Description:

After five years of tracking and reporting our sustainability data, we are upgrading our tracking and reporting system to increase accuracy and automation. Mercy Corps is looking for an experienced sustainability analyst/reporting consultant to work alongside our sustainability team and execute the Power BI visualization elements of this rebuild.

 

Consultant Activities:

The Consultant will:

Develop and build a Power BI Dashboard:

  •  Build a custom interactive Power BI dashboard for our Carbon accounting/reporting (e.g., Scope 1, 2, 3 emissions) and data validation.

  •  Integrate data from multiple sources (including Enterprise Fabric Lakehouse) into Power BI for comprehensive reporting.

  •  Identify opportunities to improve dashboard functionality.

  •  Ensure the dashboard is user-friendly, visually compelling, and aligned with the organization’s needs.

  •  Work closely with our Data Services Team to automate data refresh processes and maintain data integrity

 

Consultant Deliverables:

The Consultant will deliver:

  •  Fully functional Power BI dashboard for carbon emissions reporting (Scope 1, 2, and 3) with integrated data sources and automated data refresh and error-checking processes.

 

Timeframe / Schedule:

Precise timelines to be agreed with candidate. Approximately 10 -15 days’ work. Project to be completed by end of July 2026. 

The Consultant will report to:

Environmental Sustainability Manager 

The Consultant will work closely with:

  •  Global Data Services Team

Required Experience & Skills:

  •  5-10 years of experience in relevant technical field.

  •  Industry relevant knowledge and expertise. 

  •  Track record of supporting mission-driven organizations. 

  •  Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, or related fields.

  •  Experience with carbon accounting and emissions reporting.

  •  Proven experience in Power BI development (e.g., data modeling, DAX, data visualization best practices).

  •  Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with data transformation tools (e.g., Power Query Editor).

  •  Understanding relational databases and data integration.

  •  Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol).
