JOB SUMMARY

The Employee Health Services Manager position works to provide oversight and management of the daily operations for all employee health programs. These programs include pre-employment and periodic health screening, staff education, immunizations, bloodborne pathogen exposure, workplace injury and ergonomic assessments. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES .

  1. Oversees and performs the pre-employment assessment process for prospective employees.  Assures the assessment is conducted according to policies and procedures and includes health history review, tuberculosis(TB) test and follow-up care and/or referrals as applicable, urine drug screen, respiratory protection health history review and equipment testing (as needed), blood collections (as applicable), and recommending additional immunizations (as needed).  Thorough health reviews must be completed and documented to determine capacity for performing the essential job functions, physical demands and eliminating the spread of infectious and/or communicable disease.  As needed, coordinate proper referral and clearance from a local health agency (Douglas County Health Agency), Infectious Disease provider, and/or an Occupational Health Practitioner.
  2. Collaborate with Business Health Center practitioners on new hire screenings with identifiable limitations and/or health risks; make employee referrals for those with limitations and risks to appropriate resources
  3. Develop, communicate and maintain employee health policies and procedures in compliance with KDHE, OSHA, The Joint Commission (TJC), CDC and other regulatory agencies.  Provides advice and research on current best practices for employee health.
  4. Assists staff with workplace injuries by providing first-aid and recommends treatment for emergent or follow-up care as needed.  Recommends improvements and or treatment as needed. Manages employee injury internal investigation and reporting process; regularly communicate with workers’ compensation carrier and evaluate accommodations and return to work options for employees with restricted duties.  Collaborate with Human Resources regarding these issues and other non-work related medical restrictions and employee health related concerns.
  5. Investigates, follow-ups, consults and problem solves with employees regarding infection control questions or concerns.  
  6. Develops and conducts education programs and/or orientation for employees on topics such as, prevention of accidents and illness, bloodborne pathogen exposure procedures, etc.
  7. Oversees employee bloodborne pathogen, environmental, and communicable disease exposure to potentially infectious/hazardous materials by ensuring proper consent from employee and source patient (as applicable) is obtained; pre and post-counseling and education is conducted and completed; recommends and scheduled follow-up care; and refers the employee for treatment as needed. 
  8. Oversees Periodic Health Assessment compliance as a method of controlling communicable disease within LMH.  Review documentation and provide recommendations to staff and organization.
  9. Tracks, trends and reports data regarding needle sticks and exposures to Infection Prevention and Environment of Care Committees.  Trend employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues.  Collect and report data for employee health topics, such as lifting practices.
  10. Plans, implements and conducts TB, Influenza, and other immunization blitz campaigns for employees, volunteers and other staff.  Ensures appropriate procedures, equipment, and record keeping.
  11. Collaborates with Human Resources and other leaders as situations require.
  12. Interfaces with employee benefits and population health programs.
  13. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS


Required:  

  • Current RN in state of Kansas.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in employee health, occupational health, community health or related field required.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Knowledge of CDC, OSHA, The Joint Commission, standards and regulations.
  • Experience in a hospital/acute care setting
