The Patient Access Supervisor oversees the daily activities of the Patient Access Department. The primary position responsibility will be to assist the Patient Access Manager in meeting department standards and goals while ensuring compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, guides and develops team members, to include assisting Patient Access Manager with scheduling, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Coordinates new employee orientation and continued employee mentoring and training.
  • Meets Patient Access operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews, implementing productions, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolving problems, identifying system improvements.
  • Meets Patient Access financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances.
  • Keeps patients, relatives, visitors and admitting staff informed by communicating admitting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Provides quality assurance of admits and registrations, data integrity.
  • Ensures adequate staffing by supervising and covering 24/7 on-call responsibilities per Patient Access policies and practices.
  • Performance at a high level with little supervision.
  • Demonstrates excellent inter-personal skills, strong attention to detail, multi-task oriented.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Patient Access Department and other ancillary departments of the hospital.
  • Works to maintain a high level of positive working relationships within the department while promoting the concept of leading by example.
  • Assumes other duties deemed necessary by the Patient Access Manager.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Two years recent admissions experience in a healthcare setting.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business, Communications, or related field of study.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
