Remote-first

At the end of 2021, LegalZoom made the official commitment to being a remote-first company. Remote-first means that there is no expectation that Zoomers come into an office for a fixed number of days outside of those employees identified as essential onsite workers. While we remain a remote-first culture, our local offices have evolved as collaboration spaces for Zoomers to meet and engage in person.

As part of this dynamic team, the global Revenue team is seeking an experienced accounting professional who is familiar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. We seek an individual who embraces challenges and can rely on his/her experience, educational background and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
The Senior Accountant, Revenue, will be responsible for performing accurate processing of revenue accounting transactions, assisting with forming revenue recognition accounting positions for new products and prices, and related internal controls. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, strong communicator, and a great coach to develop our accounting staff. We are looking for a CPA with strong understanding of the Technology industry, US GAAP, and internal controls with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
You will
● Report to the Group Manager, Revenue
● Prepare or review journal entries as part of monthly close reviews
● Prepare key revenue reserves including A/R reserves, sales returns and credit reserves
● Responsible for reconciling and reviewing balance sheet accounts
● Prepare and review internal financial reports and/or ancillary reports; provide commentary and explanations
● Analyze and comment on monthly, quarterly, annual variances within income statement and balance sheet line items
● Assist in the review and documentation of internal controls and provide recommendations for improvement or automation where necessary
● Prepare technical accounting memos assessing revenue recognition for new products and contracts with multiple-element arrangements and principal agent assessments for new partners and vendors
● Assist in strengthening the month-end process complete with a close calendar
● Ability to interact and work with our business units to determine proper accounting treatment for various transactions including proposing recommendations based on applicable revenue recognition guidance
● Ability to work with both internal and external auditors and support financial statement, tax and other audits, as necessary
● Assist with adhoc reports and requests from the business
You have
● 3-5 years public accounting experience; with 2+ years private industry experience, preferably with an eCommerce company
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
● CPA is preferable
● Revenue recognition experience, specifically ASC 606
● Strong experience with SOX controls including account reconciliations and control documentation requirements
● Experience with ERPs, preferably withOracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud and Oracle Revenue Management Cloud Solution (RMCS)
● Must be proficient in Microsoft office including advanced in Excel, and PowerPivot knowledge preferred
● Strong documentation and communication skills
● Critical thinker and change agent to help make a difference
● Ability to work with minimal supervision
● Collaboration and ability to work within a team environment
● Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment and manage time and prioritize multiple deliverables.
LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is ($66,200- $92,400). Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
