Remote-first

Since March 2020, our Zoomers have worked remotely and reported an overall better work-life balance with more time for family and personal wellness.

At the end of 2021, LegalZoom made the official commitment to being a remote-first company. Remote-first means that there is no expectation that Zoomers come into an office for a fixed number of days outside of those employees identified as essential onsite workers. While we remain a remote-first culture, our local offices have evolved as collaboration spaces for Zoomers to meet and engage in person.

This position will be (remote/or SF Bay Area or LA Metro office location/s).

Overview

As Principal, Market Research & Insights, you’re a key driver in the marketing organization responsible for qualitative and quantitative research projects for LegalZoom. You will lead primary and secondary research initiatives that help objectively answer important strategic questions that inform key decisions and propel the company’s growth. As a Principal researcher, you will help LegalZoom become a more insights-driven company, develop and oversee the research roadmap, and translate data into actionable insights. Research at LegalZoom informs all aspects of the consumer experience from future product to pricing, positioning to campaign creative, customer care to post purchase communications and more. The ideal candidate is curious, strategic, analytical, and detail-oriented with excellent communication, relationship building and project management skills. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and key business groups alike and will report to the Senior Director of Product Marketing.

 You will

  • Establish strong business relationships with cross-functional teams to develop insights-led business strategies with impactful outcomes.
  • Design, execute and deliver primary and secondary research across multiple dimensions such as competitive landscape, whitespace opportunities, concept/pricing/packaging evaluations, creative/messaging/positioning tests, market sizing and segmentation.
  • Oversee and optimize foundational research studies such as our quarterly brand tracker and ongoing NPS; analyze results and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Influence through interaction with various levels and functions within the organization.
  • Define market research priorities and proactively address key business decisions to inform current and future product portfolio.
  • Manage research budgets and 3rd party research tools.
  • Build strong relationships with external research partners and determine appropriate methodology and when to execute projects in-house vs. through external partnerships.
You have

  • 8+ years of consumer insights/market research experience, client sides a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, comfort with triangulating and interpreting data, and dealing with conflicting or ambiguous data points.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail, comfortable presenting to executives and partners.
  • Ability to identify and apply the right research approach, with a mix of primary and secondary research techniques, both in-house and through external partners.
  • A track record for building strong relationships and managing through influence not authority.
  • Proven results delivering insights-driven, actionable recommendations that produce the right business strategies.
  • Excellent planning, budgeting and project management skills.
  • Comfort operating through ambiguity with excellence in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Tech/SAAS research experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or higher degree preferred.

LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is ($135,500-$189,000 ranges). Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
