Position Summary    

     

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) has provided state funding for afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. “Expanded learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results-driven, include community partners, and complement learning activities in the regular school day and school year.    

     

The Expanded Learning Program Associate will supervise students and support the operations of the after school, summer school and intersession program days. They will support the school’s effort to provide high-quality expanded programming for our school beyond the traditional school day. Reporting directly to the ELO Program Director, and working closely with the Regional Associate Director of Expanded Learning, the ELO-P Associate will be responsible for supervising students and leading clubs after school, supporting running summer school and other intersession days. In addition, the Program Associate will also own family communication and operational support for the after school and summer programs, including daily attendance, enrollment composition and fiscal compliance.

Experience:    

        Minimum 1 year of work experience, 2 or more years strongly preferred    

        Prior experience working in a school based setting     

        Experience with student supervision, operations, or customer service     

        Bilingual-Spanish or language spoken of communities served highly preferred    

        Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office & Google Drive    

     

Education:    

        High school diploma required    

     

Knowledge/skills required:    

        Knowledge of the community where the school is located is preferred    

        Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills    

        Demonstrated ability to work well in a team, especially with parents and community members    

        Ability to self-direct, prioritize and multi-task among competing goals    

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail    

        Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP Public Schools Northern California’s mission and values    

        Working knowledge in all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite    

     

Essential Functions and Responsibilities    

     

Office & Operations Support - 80% of time    

        Manage after school and summer school inventory of office supplies, textbooks, curriculum and other materials    

        Serve as the point person for first aid and student medication    

        Track and process daily student attendance accurately    

        Point person for customer service for family questions    

        Maintain complete and accurate student records and coordinate with the school front office for any family information updates    

        Organize and process all incoming applications and enrollment paperwork for after school and summer school    

        Run the lottery each spring for next year’s summer school and after school program    

        Draft & review parent communication in English and Spanish    

        Support with implementing school safety plans and procedures    

        Assist with on-campus and off-campus school events, including student field trips    

        Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned    

     

After School & Intersession Student Supervision - 20% of time    

        Support the ELO Director to create a joyful learning environment    

        Supervise students 2-3 hours per day during after school hours    

        Supervise students 5-6 hours per day during intersession days (ex: summer school/camp)    

        Coordinating and participating in student activities for intersession days (ex: talent shows, games, field days etc)    

        Attend after school and summer program field trips     

     

Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands     

     

Physical:     

Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time and actively converse and participate with others. Ability to access and utilize technology. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs. The amount of time for each activity varies depending upon priorities and needs. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.    

     

Mental:      

Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, memorize and recall objects and people.    

     

Environmental:    

Office and/or classroom environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions.  Occasional classroom/school environment.     

     

Classification    

This is a full-time, non-exempt position on a full year calendar cycle, based on the regional calendar and time-off policy.

Salary Range: $28.37 - $33.17/hr
