Are you the Certified Nursing Assistant we have been looking for? In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others while working with a dynamic team of nurses by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our students! 
 
The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence (SWCE) provides intensive, staff secure, educational and living experiences for male and female adolescents intended to cultivate excellence in all areas of growth and functioning, while preparing them for increased independence as they move into young adulthood. We are located on thirty-eight acres of property in beautiful Thompson, CT. Thompson is centrally located, 25 minutes south of Worcester, MA and 40 minutes west of Providence, RI. The program serves 33 adolescents with developmental disabilities who range in age from 10-21. 
 
Schedule: Hybrid 1st and 2nd Shifts, and may include weekend hours depending on need. 
 
JRI provides the training so that: 
  • YOU will schedule and transport students to medical appointments. 
  • YOU will report appointment findings to the nursing team. 
  • YOU will fill and order supplies 
  • YOU will provide health education and teach children about healthy lifestyle habits. 
  • YOU will administer medication as needed.

Requirements:  
  • Applicants must be 21 or older. 
  • Applicants must be currently certified as a CT CAN. 
  • Applicants must be able to obtain CT DCF medication administration certification. 
  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Applicants must be able to be certified in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid. 
  • Applicants must be able to be certified in Building Communities of Care (verbal de-escalation and physical intervention). 
  • Applicants with experience in a mental health, residential or medical setting with adolescents are preferred. 
  • Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Applicants must have knowledge of basic Microsoft computer systems and Internet capabilities. 
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
