Berkshire Meadows, located in Great Barrington offers multiple services and programs for individuals with complex and significant medical, intellectual and developmental differences. Programs include a 365-day-a-year residential school for students between the ages of 6 and 21, residential and day habilitation programs for adults, and 24/7 nursing and medical services. Berkshire Meadows operates both in community settings and at a beautiful campus with state-of-the-art equipment and therapy animals, as well as a fully accessible indoor pool.

JRI provides the support so that:

  • YOU will interact in a professional and ethical manner with persons served, families, program staff, placement and referring agencies staff, and visitors to the program. You will oversee systems to ensure all staff comply with Rights, Confidentiality, and Ethics policies.

  • YOU will develop an annual comprehensive statement of program goals and objectives that integrates the most recent JRI strategic plan with the specific program and client needs, and responds to changing needs and new advancements in the field.

  • YOU will provide leadership and direction to department heads/directors; and provide training and development opportunities to enhance services and their professional growth.

  • YOU will develop program budgets and expenditure plans, in coordination with JRI’s Corporate team. You will also implement operational practices and fiscal controls that maintain effective levels of services and resource provision within contract and service allocations.

  • YOU will design systems, organize resources, and implement ongoing monitoring activities in a manner that insures appropriate delivery of all services and quality care in safe and healthful environments through the availability of appropriate staffing, clinical, administrative, and technical resources.

  • YOU will oversee systems that ensure the safety of the program, including performance improvement and risk reduction systems. You will also ensure emergency support and back up are available 24/7.

  • YOU will oversee the design and implementation of administrative, information, and data collection systems that monitor and provide continuous feedback on the quality and effectiveness of services in addressing client needs, program goals and objectives, and contract and fiscal compliance, including client / guardian satisfaction surveys.

  • YOU will develop collaborative and effective working relationships with staff, clients, families, the wider JRI, public and private funders and human service agencies, consumer and provider advocacy groups, and local community entities.

  • YOU will promote a positive and inclusive work environment where staff members of all backgrounds feel they belong, are included and valued. You will also oversee staff training and development systems.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • At least five years’ management experience with child or adult special education, congregate care, day habilitation, or residential services.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and electronic platforms).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex service environments with multi-service sites and diverse clients and staff, including but not limited to diversity of race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, socioeconomic background, and educational background.

  • Knowledge of the needs of the populations served and understanding of the range of care and treatment required.

  • National driving record check, driver’s license confirmation, national criminal background check, DPPC, DDS, and DEEC background checks using fingerprints, and Office of the Inspector General background check.

  • Maintain valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to be certified in required crisis prevention and intervention training and in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid.

  • This position requires travel to JRI sites in other locations and on-call availability.
