Seasonal Viticulturalist
Description
Are you interested in getting hands-on experience across multiple vineyards in the Willamette Valley? Jackson Family Wines is looking for a motivated team member who is eager to expand on their knowledge of viticulture. This position will directly report to our Viticulturist and work closely with our Director of Farming and vineyard teams. We are looking for someone who can work from approximately May-October.
Responsibilities:
- Field scouting and record keeping (phenology, pests, water status, nutrition, etc)
- Data collection for yield estimation
- Plant tissue and soil sampling
- Assist with technical support of routine vineyard activities (use of pressure chamber, etc)
- Assist collecting maturity samples
- Assist with data entry and analysis (Excel, Ag Code software)
- Assist with vineyard reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Knowledge of viticulture and related areas including plant and vine physiology
- Completed or working towards degree in Viticulture or related field
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Computer skills, MS Office, and database applications
- Detail oriented
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions
Physical requirements and additional details:
- Able to work flexible and extended hours, which may include weekends
- This candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Extensive walking and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
