Hoar is recruiting qualified applicants for our Internship Program who are studying Occupational Safety and Health or related fields. This position will gain exposure to all areas of construction and training, mitigating risk, protecting against losses and injury, and implementation of the company Health & Safety Program. 
 
Duties include: 
Intern will provide safety support to Field Operations, to include the following essential functions. 

 

  • Promote compliance with the company Health and Safety Program (HSP) and assist the project team with meeting company safety goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of safety related programs to meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Perform and document jobsite safety inspections with special emphasis on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors, to prevent incidents and correct unsafe working conditions.
  • Assist the project team in reviewing Job Hazard Analysis and safety submittals.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings when requested to analyze risk and support the project team by effectively identifying hazards associated with various scopes of work.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of safety meetings to ensure company safety requirements are effectively communicated.
  • Assist in managing Hoar’s Pre-Task Safety Analysis process for the project.
  • Participate and assist in the incident investigation process.
  • Ensure project safety documentation is maintained and filed in compliance with the Health and Safety Program (HSP).
  • Assist the project team in developing and conducting jobsite safety orientations.
  • Interact effectively with management, field personnel, work independently, and/or as part of a team.
 

Requirements: 

  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
  • Must maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week during the summer semester
  • Completed college freshman year
  • Desire to pursue a career in the construction industry upon graduation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have practical knowledge of the 1926 Code of Federal Regulations
  • Valid Driver's License
