Hachette Book Group seeks an intern for AI/ML practice.  You are a highly driven, quick learner, has excellent communication and a contributing team member.  The ideal candidate will enjoy the opportunity to develop their skills in a productive, challenging, and creative environment. Must have strong Data analysis skills and knowledge of Machine learning models and alogrithms.
 
Program dates: June 2nd, 2025 – End date: August 7th, 2025
 
Location: Three days per week on-site (M-Th) in our midtown NYC office. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.
 
Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
 
Pay rate: $16.50/hour
 
As an HBG IT Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on career experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.
 
Who you are: 
 
Technical Skills:
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages like Python, JavaScript, or Java is essential.
  • Machine Learning: Understanding of machine learning concepts and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP): Knowledge of NLP techniques and libraries like NLTK, spaCy, or Hugging Face.
  • APIs and Web Services: Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services to integrate the chatbot with other systems.
  • Data Handling: Skills in data preprocessing, cleaning, and handling large datasets.
  • Version Control: Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Framework: Familiarity with chatbot development frameworks like Rasa, Dialogflow, or Microsoft Bot Framework.
Soft Skills:
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues that arise during development.
  • Communication: Clear communication skills to collaborate with team members and understand user requirements.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring the chatbot's responses are accurate and relevant. 
Additional Skills:
  • Ideally pursuing MS
  • UI/UX Design: Basic understanding of user interface and user experience design to create intuitive chatbots.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies like Agile or Scrum
