Senior Publicist, Hachette Nashville

Hachette Nashville is looking for an innovative, well-connected, and energetic Senior Publicist to spearhead publicity campaigns for titles across Hachette Nashville’s faith-based publishing imprints, Apiary and FaithWords. The Senior Publicist will be responsible for creating and implementing original and compelling publicity campaigns and events for 12-15 faith-based nonfiction titles each year. The candidate should have an outcome-driven work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, deep knowledge of mainstream and faith-based media industries, and a highly reliable focus on details and deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Planning and executing all aspects of a full-scale publicity campaign, including booking national and local media, managing author tours and events, and overseeing travel arrangements

· Developing and maintaining close working relationships with members of the press (broadcast, radio, print, digital, trades, podcasts, etc.), seeking out and researching new media outlets, and brainstorming innovative ideas on how to best publicize our titles to maximize exposure and sales.

· Working closely with Apiary and FaithWords authors and agents on all aspects of publicity campaigns

· Communicating confidently and effectively with internal editorial, marketing, and sales teams to convey a cohesive publicity strategy for each title

· Strategizing media lists, creating press materials (full press kits, press releases, pitch & galley letters, author Q&A's, etc.), and pitching producers, editors, and bookers with a goal of securing coverage

· Developing and maintaining relationships with booksellers around the country, as well as off-site and lecture event venues.

· Supporting select author appearances, media opportunities, and industry events, including traveling as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field

· 4+ years’ prior publicity experience

· Broad knowledge of and genuine interest in publishing, media, and influencers within the religion category

· Established relationships with national and regional media contacts who cover books and religion

· Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environments

· Effective organizational and project management skills with a proven ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines

· High level of professionalism and excellent communication and presentation skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, etc.

· Familiarity with Muck Rack, Podchaser, Meltwater, Net Galley, and Edelweiss

The compensation range for this position is $55,000-$60,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
