Hachette Book Group is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and data-driven Digital Marketing Assistant to join the Executive Marketing Strategy department, reporting to the Assistant Marketing Director.

This role focuses on content creation and performance-driven digital marketing across email, websites, and social media. The ideal candidate is a storyteller with a sharp eye for design and a passion for genre fiction—especially crime fiction. You’ll help shape how readers discover books by creating engaging, visually compelling content and using data to optimize performance across channels. Primarily supporting the Novel Suspects and Open Book communities, this role offers growth opportunities across broader Executive Marketing Strategy campaigns.

The role is NYC based; HBG's current hybrid working model is three days in the office per week. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Create engaging and visually appealing content (static and short-form video) for social platforms that align with brand voice and aesthetic
  • Write compelling, SEO-informed copy
  • Execute email marketing campaigns and assist with performance tracking
  • Manage and update campaign landing pages
  • Monitor engagement metrics across email, social, and web; provide insights and recommendations
  • Coordinate content calendars and collaborate with imprint teams to gather assets and launch campaigns on time
  • Support influencer outreach and ongoing creator communication
  • Assist with virtual event planning and execution, including tech rehearsals and day-of support
  • Support daily marketing operations, including project tracking and file organization

Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
  • Comfortable creating and editing short-form video (Reels, TikToks, Edits, etc.)
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of SEO and digital performance metrics
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Comfortable analyzing campaign data and applying insights to improve campaign content
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn new tools, techniques, and trends

The compensation for this position is $50,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
