This helps our customers to eliminate security blind spots, optimize network traffic, and dramatically reduce tool cost and complexity, enabling them to better secure and manage their hybrid cloud infrastructure. Gigamon has served more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including over 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, 9 of the 10 largest mobile network providers, and hundreds of governments and educational organizations.
In this role, you will serve as a hands-on Lab Engineer and lab owner, responsible for the day-to-day operation, reliability, and safety of Gigamon’s India lab environment. You will manage equipment and materials, standardize lab processes, and ensure high usability and cleanliness to support engineering and test activities. You will also handle Jira tickets from lab users in India and the US, resolving a wide range of hardware, network, and infrastructure issues. Your work will directly enable fast, efficient, and reliable lab access for internal customers across geographies.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the lab environment, making informed decisions that address immediate needs while considering long-term impact on lab operations and scalability.
  • Drive lab standardization initiatives, including processes, documentation, and layouts, to improve lab usability, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of lab equipment using tools such as GigaINV and DcTrack to track ownership, inventory, and utilization.
  • Coordinate and manage equipment reservations to optimize utilization and ensure availability for lab users.
  • Oversee material management, including stock levels, run rates, and loaner equipment, to ensure the lab is consistently prepared for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Quickly triage and resolve Jira tickets from India and US lab users related to servers, operating systems, switches, PDUs, networking, and Layer 1 infrastructure.
  • Perform OS installation and configuration on bare metal and virtual machines, including ESXi, vSphere, Proxmox, Ubuntu, and Windows.
  • Install and configure Gigamon and third-party equipment in racks, including safely lifting and handling hardware up to 35 lbs / 16 kg without assistance.
  • Build and validate topologies using fiber, copper, and DAC cabling and optics from 1G to 400G.
  • Perform structured cabling work, including copper, LC, MPO, and MPO breakout for single-mode and multi-mode fiber, as well as attenuators.
  • Collaborate on additional lab projects based on business needs and your areas of interest and growth.

What you’ve done:

  • Gained hands-on experience operating or supporting technical labs, data centers, or similar infrastructure environments.
  • Worked with operating systems such as ESXi/Proxmox, Linux, and Windows, including command-line usage for installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Applied core networking concepts in practice, including DHCP, DNS, IPv4 vs IPv6, NTP, NFS, and switch configuration (access vs trunk ports).
  • Demonstrated general technical proficiency with storage and compute components such as SATA/SAS/NVMe drives, RAID, RAM, processors, and ESD-safe handling.
  • Supported or administered remote infrastructure components such as console servers, KVMs, and PDUs.
  • Used ticketing systems (such as Jira) to manage and resolve user requests, with a focus on timely closure and customer satisfaction.

Who you are:

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English and Tamil, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comfortable working independently in a small, distributed team (e.g., team of two with remote management), taking ownership of issues through resolution.
  • Customer-focused, with a track record of driving high ticket resolution quality and user satisfaction.
  • Creative and resourceful, able to think outside the box to diagnose and solve complex or ambiguous lab issues.
  • Strong in time management, capable of context-switching and time-slicing to handle multiple concurrent requests while being punctual and reliably onsite when needed.
