Principal Hardware Engineer - Santa Clara - Hybrid
Description
Define the architecture and high-level concepts of new systems and board-level products.
Perform board and system-level circuit design, bring-up, and validation, including digital and analog technologies.
Understand up-to-date optical communications technologies, responsible for new optics investigation, qualification, and release
Responsible for the design and development of new products as well as the support and modification of existing products
Collaborate with the Product management team to translate customer requirements into system design
Responsible for conceptual design, parts selection, design simulation, detailed design, schematic capture, and PCB layout guidelines
Mentor junior engineers
Manage prototype builds with contract manufacturers and JDM/ODM partners
Support the boards and systems during environmental testing and entry into production
BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, MS preferred
15+ years of applicable design experience designing networking products or equivalent, familiarity with Broadcom/Marvell solutions is a big plus
Deep understanding of high-speed (100G PAM4) board design, including SI/PI implications
Experience with the design of low-noise, high-efficiency on-board power regulation circuits
Strong board-level debug and verification skills
Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Prior experience writing product specifications, test plans, and test procedures
Must be willing to learn new skills, be a self-starter, and a team player
Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines
Ability to recognize problems, gather data, draw valid conclusions, and effectively present information to managers, peers, and customers
Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
