Principal Hardware Engineer - Santa Clara - Hybrid
Description
- Help define high-level system design specifications.
- Create HW functional specifications
- Board-level digital circuit design, bring-up, and validation
- CPLD/glue logic coding
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering on mechanical and thermal solutions, as well as system assembly and integration.
- Understand optical communications technologies and drive the qualification of new and sustain existing optics, including transceivers and passive splitters.
- Responsible for the design of new products as well as the support of existing products.
- Responsible for component selection and qualification.
- Support and coordinate prototype builds and validation at the contact manufacturer and/or JDM/ODM partners.
- Support team with critical customer escalations
- Support and coordinate environmental and compliance testing, manage certifications and reports, and assist customers with compliance-related questions and requests.
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of design experience in networking products, embedded products, or optical products.
- Experience with high-speed board design
- Experience with low-noise, high-efficiency, on-board power regulator design
- Experience with Verilog
- Board-level debug and validation skills
- Experience using test equipment, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience writing product specifications, test plans, and test procedures.
- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines
- Ability to recognize problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including the platform and application software team, and manufacturing
- Test scripts (Tera term, Shell, or Python)
