SENIOR DIRECTOR OF GIRLS PROGRAMMING
JOB SUMMARY
FCD Youth, LLC is the youth-focused affiliate of Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas franchise and offers robust programs for boys and girls from six to 19 years old across a variety of the top national youth soccer platforms through “the FCD Way”. The Senior Director of Girls Programming will oversee programming centered on our female athletes, including our Girls Academy program which competes in the ECNL platform, and assist the technical staff with the recruitment of coaches and athletes to the club. This role will also focus on the development and implementation of programming for their coaches to further establish the club as the preeminent developer of female soccer players and coaches, at both the collegiate and professional levels in the United States. The Senior Director shall also interact with, and work with, both the club and its partners to develop resources for the families of our female athletes. The position requires a highly organized and proactive individual, with strong intrapersonal skills and a solid understanding of the sports industry. The Senior Director will also have some coaching duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership:
- Oversee the club’s programs for girls aged six to 19 in line with club objectives.
- Support the growth and development of both the coaching and administrative staff within the program.
- Work closely with program leadership in the operational management of the program including the Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Youth and Academy, the Girl’s ECNL Program Director, the Girl’s Program Director of Coaching, and the Juniors Director.
- Work with the club’s Safety Lead on matters related to athlete safety and the club’s Minor Protection Policy.
- Work with the club’s Broadcast, Media, and Communications and Marketing Departments with respect to the promotion of the Program.
Coach Recruitment and Development:
- Identify, recruit, and support the development of coaches for the program, including within currently under-represented groups in the youth soccer coaching community.
- Support the delivery and evolution of the club’s onboarding and evaluation processes that provide the standards and expectations for coaches.
- Develop an annual calendar of education within the club that suits the needs of coaches at select and juniors competitive levels in keeping with the FCD Way.
- Work with the club to positively promote consistent messaging via the club’s digital channels, with a focus of engaging our female athletes and their communities.
Team and Athlete Development:
- Contribute to the creation of new and innovative educational opportunities that support the holistic development of female athletes at the club.
- Support the creation of online content and resources underpinning the FCD Way for athletes and their families.
- Coach one or more teams within the program in accordance with the FCD Way.
- Understand and reinforce the club’s long term athlete development plan.
- Promote the safety of all athletes at all times.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Preferred minimum five years of coaching experience within a youth club (candidates with commensurate experience as collegiate and/or professional athletes will be considered)
- Preferred bachelor’s degree
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required by the club
- Preferred USSF B-License or equivalent soccer industry qualification
- Proven track record of quality communication skills related to personal development of self and others
- Strong people skills and ability to effectively represent a positive image for the club and to build relationships with our community.
- Experience managing and leading a team is preferred.
SPECIAL REMARKS REGARDING WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is full-time and functions primarily at the offices and training facilities at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.
- The Senior Director may be required to travel to off-site meetings and other functions and must have a reliable means of transportation.
- Must complete all mandatory employee trainings, as required by the club.
