Senior Test Engineer
Description
This role spans developmental and validation testing at the component, sub-system, and system levels, including displays, low-voltage electronics, and three-phase high-voltage power electronics. The Test Engineer owns assigned test execution scope across the testing lifecycle—from test planning and equipment definition through execution, data analysis, and reporting—and plays a key role in supporting product quality and deployment readiness.
- Develop and maintain test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for assigned validation scope, aligned with product requirements and program milestonesSet up and execute environmental, durability, electrical, and functional test campaigns
- Own assigned test execution activities end-to-end, including test readiness, execution, documentation, and closure
- Define requirements for Special Test Equipment (STE), fixtures, and data acquisition systems with guidance from senior engineers
- Design or specify test fixtures and automated/manual test setups for defined test scenarios
- Coordinate test assets, including hardware configuration, software updates, and data collection, to support repeatable testing
- Ensure accurate data capture, analysis, and reporting for assigned test activities
- Analyze results to identify risks, trends, and failure modes, and communicate findings clearly
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and results
- Collaborate with engineering, reliability, manufacturing, and suppliers to execute experiments and support issue resolution
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provide technical guidance to technicians during test execution
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in hardware test, validation, or product development environment.
- Hands-on experience testing electromechanical systems, preferably including high-voltage systems
- Strong capability in test setup, execution, instrumentation, and error-proofing
- Proficiency with lab instrumentation (power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, function generators, DAQ)
- Experience developing test procedures, reports, and test documentation
- Working proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar tools for test automation and data analysis
- Strong analytical skills and ability to apply engineering judgment with supervision
- Willingness to travel for test integration, commissioning, or training
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of standards such as UL 2202, UL 50E, IEC 60068, MIL-STD-810
- Experience with medium- and high-voltage systems (up to 1000 VDC)
- Familiarity with charging and automotive protocols (SAE J1772, DIN 70121, ISO 15118, CAN, CAN FD, Ethernet)
- Experience with Vector tools (CANape, CANalyzer)
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Jama, or similar tools
- Experience with embedded Linux systems, flashing, and interfacing
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $149,200.00 USD to $165,000.00 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
