Position Summary: 
 
The Director of Asset Management Engineering is responsible for improving the efficiency, reliability and scalability of EVgo’s Asset Management function.  This role partners closely with engineering, field services, third party vendors, and cross functional stakeholders to optimize triage, resolution, and field service quality.  The Director of Asset Management Engineering provides support to network operations, and other operations personnel with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, incident response, and issue resolution for field assets. Candidates for this position must be critical thinkers and possess a drive for continuous improvement. The candidate will be a member of an ever-growing team in Los Angeles, CA, that is operating the largest volume of Fast Charging infrastructure in the United States tasked with keeping Electric Vehicles on the road and charging forward. 
 
Responsibilities:  
  • Support operational network efficiency by defining, piloting, and scaling new operational methodologies with increased technical capabilities, analytics and continuous improvement frameworks. 
  • Lead continuous optimization of end-to-end triage and resolution processes by leveraging tool automation, actionable equipment messaging, and unencumbered decision making opportunities. 
  • Oversee prioritization escalation and resolution strategies to minimize downtime and improve system reliability. 
  • Build and manage strong relationships with Network Operations, Site Development, Field Services, Customer Operations, Hardware Engineering, Deployment, and vendor partners to coordinate efficient service delivery and long term infrastructure health. 
  • Serve as the departmental escalation point with engineering teams to communicate field trends, inform on risk and impact, validate design improvements, and influence product roadmap decisions. 
  • Build frameworks to define, measure, and analyze equipment quality metrics, escalating critical findings and driving solutions with engineering and vendor partners. 
  • Oversee the quality and governance of technical documentation, operational standards, system diagrams, and data reporting. 
  • Drive adoption of network standards, protocols, and operational best practices across teams and external partners. 
  • Partner with EVgo Field service on field investigation protocols and site visit strategies and sharing group cause analysis leads to sustainable and scalable solutions across the network 
  • Create necessary technical, end user, and application/system documentation including diagrams, flowcharts and scheduled reporting 
  • Verification of monitoring communication and system operation at all times 
  • Develop broad knowledge and understanding of underlying network standards and protocols 
  • On-call responsibilities, as assigned 
Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience. Barriers to entry may require committee review.
Desired Skills:
 
  • Previous hands on experience developing, maintaining, or troubleshooting EVSE equipment 
  • Proven track record of diagnosing and resolving technical issues within on-site environments 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ethernet network access, configurations, IP based routing concepts, and providing Virtual Private Network details to carriers and data centers 
  • Working with vendors to procure provision, configure and ship routing equipment to third party partners for use in our charging network 
  • Strong understanding of databases and develop schedule reporting for weekly metrics 
  • Hands on systems development & programming experience (Linux, MySQL, Bash) 
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $140,900.00 USD to $176,100.00 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
