Position Summary:
EVgo is seeking a detailed and solution-oriented Grid Integration Engineer to support EVgo’s nationwide EV charger deployment. This role is responsible for guiding projects through design and utility construction phases, ensuring technical feasibility, constructability, and compliance. The engineer will manage internal and external engineering resources, provide subject-matter expertise, and support Grid Integration Managers in utility coordination and make-ready programs.
Responsibilities:
- Drive feasibility and constructability reviews during early-stage project design, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs.
- Provide engineering guidance on behind-the-meter (BtM) and through-the-meter (TtM) designs in coordination with utilities and engineering contractors.
- Communicate timely recommendations and solutions on design-related challenges.
- Manage and document project activities within EVgo’s CRM platform, ensuring accurate and consistent updates.
- Review, interpret, and apply local, utility, and regulatory standards to ensure compliance in design and equipment procurement.
- Collaborate with EVgo’s Market Development team to support make-ready project pipelines and submittal requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with utilities to facilitate efficiencies in process, promote engineering & construction best practices, and advocate for EVgo's interests
- Partner with the Project Engineering team to analyze and communicate cost implications of interconnection methods.
- Develop and implement streamlined processes to support efficient project execution.
- Analyze large datasets and deliver clear, actionable insights to guide execution strategies.
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent work experience.
Desired Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Google Earth).
- Experience with 480V interconnections for distributed generation, EV charging, or microgrids.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution networks and utility/AHJ requirements.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, SiteTracker, or similar enterprise CRM systems.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Comfortable managing and interpreting large datasets across multiple projects.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Comfortable managing & effectively prioritizing work across a high volume of projects in varied stages of development
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $100,000.00 USD to $118,00.00 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
