About the role:
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer DVT testing, you will be part of the Product Engineering team, who are responsible for maintaining and improving existing products throughout their lifecycle, including Testing, performance enhancements, and addressing obsolescence issues. Essentially ensuring a product remains functional, meets customer needs by troubleshooting customer issues, and implementing continuous improvement strategies to optimize product performance and ensure products remain compliant with relevant industry regulations and standards.
What you will do
- Strong experience testing electro-mechanical products (Impact, Vibration, Water spray, Solid Ingress, Electrical performance/safety, Polymer behaviour/properties, Cables and connectors)
- Experience testing to international standards (Inverters UL 1741, Electrical connectors UL 6703, UL 9703, EN 60512, EN 60352; Polymers UL 94, UL 746C; Ingress protection IEC 60529)
- Hands-on experience in plastics, sheet-metal, casting part test and manufacturing process
- Good exposure on cable assemblies, ECAD/MCAD integrations
- Good understanding on structural and thermal test considerations
- Exposure in Solid works or any other CAD package and EPDM.
- Good exposure on UL, IEC & NEMA standards. Experience in UL1741 will be an added advantage
- Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance
- Experience in product validation testing (Thermal, vibration, drop test, impact test etc.) is mandatory.
- Failure analysis and root cause identification
- Generating documentation, including test and analysis reports, component specifications and review minutes
- Support sourcing, manufacturing and quality teams with mechanical test expertise
Who you are and what you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 6+ years industry work experience in product test and validation or master’s degree in mechanical engineering with 4+ years industry work experience in product test and validation.
- Perform product testing independently and in collaboration with other team members
- Record and report test results in the team’s test management system
- Analyse test results and perform preliminary fault finding
- Design and build test equipment
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Experience in the product engineering/sustaining activities on high-volume products would be a plus
- Previous employment in high-power and consumer products industries would be a plus.
- Willing to travel to customer locations on a short notice.
