Are you fascinated by high frequency power electronics design? This role offers a unique opportunity to turn that passion into impact by leading the design of power converter concept for a medium-voltage application, with a particular focus on high frequency magnetics.
As a Power Electronics / Magnetics Lead, you’ll coordinate a team of advanced R&D engineers to develop new simulation models, experimental techniques, and test fixtures. You’ll also collaborate with vendors and peers across the company to develop this first-of-kind power converter.
This position is part of an advanced R&D team within the CTO Office and reports to the Sr. Director of Inverter Technology.
What you will do.
- Be a leader a first-of-kind power converter concept, including design and validation.
- Perform and supervise hands-on lab work, including in a medium voltage test environment and in developing novel test fixtures and experimental techniques.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on magnetics modeling and simulation workflows.
- Work with vendors to evaluate material properties and integrate new materials into designs.
- Compare experimental results with predictive models and contribute to improving model accuracy.
Who you are and What you bring.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on power electronics - with bonus expertise in high frequency and/or medium voltage magnetic design.
- Familiarity with a wide range of magnetic materials, theory, simulation, modeling, and experimentation.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools (like KiCAD).
- Advanced understanding of power electronics fundamentals; exposure to resonant converter topologies is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D environment with significant hands-on experimentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for bridging theory with practical validation.
