Are YOU our next Method Validation Technologist?    
The Method Validation Technologist will perform analytical method validations and verifications within the toxicology laboratory (both forensic and clinical) working with methods developed by scientific (R&D laboratory). These will include liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry-based (LC-MS/MS and High Resolution LC-MS) assays for quantitative drug testing in various biological materials. The incumbent will also assist in the implementation and on-going maintenance of these new testing services in the routine production environment. Key technical support to various quality and process improvement projects within the department will also be provided. 
 
Status: Contract Full-Time (18 months)

How YOU will make a difference:     
  • Apply extensive analytical and practical knowledge towards method evaluation and validation
  • Assess and validate methods, operate, maintain, fine-tune, and troubleshoot these techniques and associated instrumentation in a laboratory setting
  • Effectively transfer learning so that said methods are put into and maintained in operations
  • Act as a lead resource for planning, training, implementation and troubleshooting post-implementation
  • Undertake additional administrative activities in support of the method validation project and the fulfillment of all internal and external quality requirements
  • Coordinate project plans and activities and provide functional and technical expertise where needed.
  • Provide feedback on the status of projects and coordinate the flow of project information to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain records of projects and assists with relevant documentation
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth functioning of scientific support team for the department
  • Perform production duties in support of the clinical toxicology bench as required
     
What YOU bring to the role:
  • Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency of advance analytical techniques and instrumentation such as Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, pH meter, etc., depending on the current requirement
  • Knowledge and working experience within complex projects within a regulated environment an asset
  • Minimum College Diploma or B.Sc. in Science or MLT with advanced training
  • M.Sc. in related science an asset
  • High information processing capability (IPC)
  • Understanding and experience with advanced instrumentation and technology
  • Collaborative working style
  • Sharing of knowledge to develop internal employees
  • Transfer of knowledge to teach operational employees how to work with developed method
  
Working Conditions:     
  • Forensic Toxicology Laboratory environment
  • Perform duties in stationary standing/sitting positions with repetitive fine motor movement of hands e.g. pipetting
  • High visual requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. (pounds)
  • Exposure to biohazard materials, fumes, chemicals, and noise
  • Shift work required
 
Pay rate: $32.00-$34.50 per hour
The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
