Prop Styling / Studio Assistant

 

The Prop Styling/Studio Assistant will help maintain general organization of the prop room, and support the Prop Manager and all members of the propping team in the Des Moines Content Studios.  The Prop Styling/Studio Assistant needs to be able to take direction from a variety of different team members to help us keep up the pace on home and food shoots in the studio.

 

This position will play a critical role in maintaining the inventory and organization of the prop room to ensure it remains a valuable and functional resource for everyone working in the Des Moines Content Studios.  This position will also work as an assistant to our team of photographers as needed.

 

The  Prop Styling/Studio Assistant should have a growth mindset, and may be asked to perform prop pulling and styling services when appropriate.  

 

The schedule for this position will vary depending on needs of the photo studio, so maintaining and keeping track of a flexible schedule is a must. 



Assignment Details: 

 

16-32 hours a week, average
Start date: 10/1/2025
End date: 6 months with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $18-20/hour 
Location: On-site.  Des Moines, IA - US

 

Assignment Responsibilities:

 

  • Support Senior and Associate Prop Stylists with photo and video shoot prep, execution, and clean up. This will include but is not limited to running errands, researching props, assembling/lifting furniture and other prop items.
  • Maintain the general cleanliness and organization of the prop resource.
  • Assist Photographers on photo shoots.
  • Pull props for digital shoots under close supervision of the Prop Stylists and Prop Manager.

 

Skills/Experience:

 

  • Attitude wins over experience for this entry level spot- we need a team player interested in a career in props and prop styling.
  • Design, fine arts, or other creative education preferred, can be waived depending on experience.
  • Can-do attitude- willing to work on any job no matter how messy or tedious.
  • Problem solving- able to navigate an uncharted course and come up with creative solutions to problems.
  • Multi-tasking- Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills- must be able to communicate clearly with teammates and clients.  Resilient and able to receive constructive criticism.
  • Flexible- You have the personality and skills to support multiple brands with different aesthetics and can deftly pivot between projects.
  • Proficient computer skills (Google – Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs)
  • Stong Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records and file expense reports.
