Procurement Category Manager, IT Applications
The Category Manager, IT Applications will optimize and manage the contract lifecycles for a portfolio of IT Application related goods/services worth approximately $40-$50MM.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with the IT Applications team to understand business requirements, goals and opportunities for value creation.
- Engage with external resources, benchmarks, etc to understand the market conditions related to the portfolio.
- Become the subject matter expert for Application related procurement.
- Lead and facilitate the development of sourcing strategies that combine market expertise, current market conditions, competitive leverage, sourcing processes and tactics into a strategy that delivers the lowest total practical cost.
- Recommend and seek approval for sourcing decisions, which are consistent with those strategies and the business requirements of our Information Technology Applications team.
- Negotiate the commercial and legal elements of the contracts with suppliers that are consistent with the developed strategy.
- Hold supplier partners accountable for agreed upon performance. This includes issue resolution and the management of relationships.
- Responsible for the design and successful implementation of key best practice business processes.
- Collaborate with PE’s Information Technology department to assure that the suppliers and the contract strategy deliver the results and requirements of our IT organization.
Critical Competencies:
- Multi-site, Multi-year, Multi-million dollar contract negotiation experience
- User license negotiation experience
- Strong negotiation skills
- Good consensus building skills
- Previous experience in IT product research, pricing, purchasing, tracking, & justification
- Large single source (e.g. SAP, Microsoft, Oracle) contract negotiation experience
- Proven track record of cost reductions
- Strong analytical ability, highly organized, and detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or an additional 5 years of experience
- 4-5 years of procurement experience
- 2-3 years of IT experience or 2-3 years of IT procurement experience
