Domtar is seeking candidates with Operational and Maintenance skills to join the Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC where approximately 750 tons of white paper and 350 tons of market pulp are produced daily.    

   

Job Summary   

In these positions, you will perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) duties, calibrate / install transmitters and devices, troubleshoot and resolve problems in the mill’s highly technical, advanced manufacturing process while working within a team environment.   

 

Starting pay $23.52/hr with $0.57/hr Continuous Process Allowance (CPA).  Base wage increases to $25.72/hr with $0.65 CPA after successful six-month evaluation.  Once you complete a successful six-month evaluation, you are eligible to obtain your first skill block, which would then increase your base wage to $30.33/hr with $0.80/hr CPA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting electrical circuits in a live, mill environment
  • Performing Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Preventative Maintenance (PM) duties
  • Calibrating all types of transmitters (level, pressure, flow, temperature, pH, etc.)
  • Installing or replacing different types of transmitters and devices that are required in the Mill
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions for all different types of transmitters and implementing the needed repairs
  • Troubleshooting motors and motor control circuits (480V, 2300V, AC and DC Systems)
  • Troubleshooting Variable Speed Drives (AC and DC Systems)
  • Troubleshooting I/O signal and control issues for complex computerized control systems
  • Assisting with installation and checkout of any new projects in the mill
  • Interacting with onsite and off-site contractors / vendors

 

Qualifications:    

  • Preferred - technical degree in Electrical and / or Instrumentation Technology or equivalent experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial facility
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Willing to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a team environment for a 24/7 mill operation which includes: nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to work in an industrial environment, including: inside, outside, at heights and inside confined spaces
  • Ability to train in and comprehend complex process systems
  • Strong math comprehension and skills which includes a minimum score of 6 on WorkKeys Applied Math
  • Excellent prior work history and safety record
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communications and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Dedicated team player with a “can do” attitude
