Domtar is seeking a Manager of Purchasing and Logistics to join the Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC where approximately 1000 tons of pulp and paper products are produced daily.

 

Job Summary

The Manager of Purchasing and Logistics will be responsible for the managing the materials department, shipping department and supply chain of the Marlboro Mill.  This position will report directly to the mill’s general manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages departmental functions and employees:
    • Materials Department - Purchasing, Stores, Receiving, Service Crew / Material Handling, Inbound Logistics, Inventory.
    • Shipping Department - Shipping, Warehousing & Finished Goods Inventory, Production Planning, Roll Wrap Line, Pulp Line
  • Purchases high-dollar value commodities for Marlboro Mill
  • Sells Mill by-products and co-products, such as tall oil, turpentine, electricity and broke
  • Purchases major high-dollar commodities such as raw materials / chemicals, pulp, and energy.
  • Senior Leadership / Management function for the Mill

 

Required Qualifications/Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree – Supply Chain Management, Business, or Technical with business experience; or relevant experience
  • 10 years related experience in a Supply Chain, Purchasing, or Materials Management position within a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced level of knowledge on the administration, negotiation, and language of contracts / purchasing agreements
  • Strong negotiation skills. Knowledge or experience with shipping, warehousing, inventory control.
  • Ability to manage both salaried and hourly workforce
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and listening) and strong interpersonal skils

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPM, CPIM, CPSM Certification
  • MBA if bachelor’s degree is a non-business related degree
  • Solid working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
