To learn more, visit www.domtar.com.  Domtar’s Packaging mill in Kingsport, TN is searching for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader.

This position is part of the Kingsport Packaging Mill Maintenance Team and plays a critical role in the overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader’s primary purpose is to lead the team of hourly mechanical maintenance employees to safely maintain plant equipment at optimum efficiency and to facilitate the team’s use of their troubleshooting skills and experiences to resolve mechanical problems that may occur. 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operations of hourly mechanical maintenance team, including but not limited to safety, scheduling, timekeeping, training / development, performance, appropriate behavior, coaching / counseling etc.
• Coordinates equipment and facility maintenance / repairs with Operations and other key personnel to:
• minimize downtime;
• ensure work is properly and safely completed and in a timely manner;
• ensure preventive maintenance is performed
• Collaborates with Maintenance Planner and other key personnel to plan work assignments, schedule projects, and determine cost estimates / budget.
• Identifies and implements improvements in process and equipment reliability across the Mill by working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel.
• Supports maintenance team by assisting with resolving technical issues and repair procedures / troubleshooting.

 Required Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years mechanical maintenance journey-person experience; B.S. in Engineering; or Associate degree in a maintenance-related field
• Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience leading a manufacturing mechanical maintenance team to achieve excellent results
• Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment and procedures; knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and listening communication skills
• Analytical, critical thinking, and proven problem-solving skills
• Proven success building a successful team
• Proficient planning, organization, and time-management skills
• Results focused and detail oriented

 Preferred Qualifications

• Working degree of computer literacy, including computer-based maintenance software (SAP) and Microsoft Office
• Knowledgeable in areas of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and reliability
• Rotating equipment troubleshooting aptitude
