Position Title: Sr. Accountant

 

Location: Nekoosa, WI (on-site)

 

Reports to: Mill Controller

 

The Sr. Accountant will report directly to the Mill Controller and is a part of the Finance team at the Nekoosa Mill.  This role is responsible for ensuring SOX and GAAP compliance while supporting the financial needs of the mill related to month-end closing, budgeting and forecasting, capital projects, product costing, and various ad hoc analyses.

The ideal candidate will build effective, trusting business relationships and partnerships across the organization to execute the implementation of plans supporting the company’s strategic business direction in alignment with Domtar’s core values.

 

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Perform month-end closing responsibilities, including posting journal entries, inventory movements, and running cost allocations.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for the site’s full listing of asset and liability accounts (including inventory, prepaids, and maintenance/non-maintenance accruals).
  • Review/prepare monthly accounting and financial reports including profit and loss statement variance analysis.
  • Provide audit support (internal and external).
  • Serve as a resource to update and maintain major inventory standard product costs.
  • Maintain finished goods product costing system.
  • Coordinate with sites for actual/forecast/budget results and analysis.
  • Research and apply accounting policies and principles to properly record, report, and maintain financial data.
  • Possess ability and track record of challenging reported figures, asking questions, and probing others to ensure that the right answers are obtained.
  • Some overtime will be necessary during critical times of month-end close, project delivery, etc.

Required Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years related experience in an accounting role.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced Excel capabilities, including advanced formulas and pivot tables (examples may be requested during the interview process).
  • Experience working in an ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

 

Preferred Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience within a manufacturing operations environment/process.
  • Accounting experience outside of solely accounts payable/accounts receivable, cost accounting, or public accounting is strongly preferred.
