The Rothschild Mill is a fully integrated Pulp, Paper, Converting, and Utility operation and produces the premium uncoated freesheet product known as Cougar. The mill employs 300+ employees and supports many community events.
Assistant Superintendent:
The responsibilities of the R5 Assistant Superintendent include indirectly lead operating performance for the R5 Paper Machine, including safety, environmental, quality, cost control, productivity, labor and employee relations and engagement. These operations include the direct supervision of the area Supervisors, hourly-union operation team members, and area engineers. This position reports directly to the R5 Paper Operations Manager.
Your Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the R5 Assistant Superintendent include indirectly lead operating performance for the R5 Paper Machine, including safety, environmental, quality, cost control, productivity, labor and employee relations and engagement. These operations include the direct supervision of the area Supervisors, hourly-union operation team members, and area engineers. This position reports directly to the R5 Paper Operations Manager.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and provide direction to support safely delivering a quality, cost effective operation by building effective partnerships with our internal converting customers, external customers, our suppliers, and our teammates.
- Support a safety culture that actively eliminates risk, strives for employee engagement and participation, and performs work safely. Functions as a champion in the areas of Safety, Health and Environmental.
- Knows, understands, and complies with all applicable environmental requirements.
- Supports the area Manager in development of performance expectations for the department and assists in meeting their established goals.
- Embrace reliability planning & scheduling and maintain essential care and condition monitoring. Assists in the coordination and scheduling of maintenance activities for monthly/quarterly outages, emergency outages, and major maintenance shutdowns.
- Responsible for development, coaching, and training of direct and indirect reports to ensure employee growth to improve overall operations. This includes evaluation of training and mentoring for co-ops, interns and junior engineers.
Your Profile:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Reliability or other Technical field.
- 15 years of relevant Paper Mill Operations experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of effective maintenance reliability practices, process control systems, data management systems and analysis programs. Experience using SAP, ParcView, QIS, AutoProd and other manufacturing applications is a plus.
- Leadership experience with proven ability to create a positive team environment, build high performance work teams and engaging work relationships and coordinate change management in a traditional manufacturing setting.
- A personal dedication to creating and maintaining a safe workplace through proactive safety improvement initiatives.
- Expert in Reliability and Continuous Improvement principles and techniques
- Able to respond to the need of a 24/7 operation
