Credit Analyst
Description
As a Credit Clerk, you manage the credit application process, customer accounts, customer collections, and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. You are a detail-oriented professional with good judgement, an ability to multitask, and strong communication and organizational skills. You are a team player that supports the credit team as a whole but can also operate independently and are a self-starter. You ensure minimal bad debt and help the company be profitable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Credit Applications
- Process, analyze, and review credit applications.
- Ensure proper documentation is obtained.
- Determine credit worthiness and assign credit lines.
- Approve or decline credit applications.
- Customer Accounts
- Set up and maintain customer files and accounts.
- Assess and manage credit risks.
- Customer credit and account relations.
- Ensure accounts are secured when necessary. Credit insurance, NOFs, etc.
- Monitor extension of credit on accounts.
- Work with existing customers to assist and research/resolve issues. Issue debit/credit memos. Follow up with sales and customers regarding issues.
- Report weekly on any problem accounts.
- Manage accounts, including an ongoing review of accounts, payments, credit reports, issues, etc.
- Credit references on customers.
- Customer collections
- Ensure timely collections of receivables from open A/R.
- Ensure compliance of credit terms.
- Responsible for credit hold/release of accounts and orders.
- Process applications for customer payments and deposits.
- Approve minimal discrepancies for adjustment on A/R.
- Process & Procedures
- File Small Claims Court paperwork.
- File on Bonds and Liens.
- Report to credit agencies.
- Process NSF checks.
- Ensure credit policy and procedures are adhered to companywide.
- Establish and update credit rating criteria.
- Ensure liens waivers are accurate, complete, and processed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of previous credit and collections experience
- Knowledge of liens, bonds, joint checks, lien waivers, Notice of Furnishings
- General accounting knowledge
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially Excel
