Senior Director, Education Agency Practice 

Salary range: Starting at $170,000
Hybrid/remote role, must be located in the Midwest, Northeast or Mid Atlantic with a strong preference for candidates based in Boston, Chicago, or New York City

Project Evident is seeking a Senior Director to join our Education Agency Practice (EAP). We are looking for exceptional talent, deeply committed to delivering better outcomes for students and who leads with a growth mindset. In addition to providing practice leadership, this person will manage engagements to a level of high quality, drive sustainable revenue to fuel growth and is able step in for the Managing Director as needed. Candidates who can advance practice strategy and roll up their sleeves to do the work will succeed at Project Evident.  After joining the team and learning the ropes, you will help hire and retain four to five new teammates to significantly expand the practice.  Project Evident, in general, and EAP specifically is in an exciting phase of growth work and, more importantly, in a position to make a meaningful difference for education leaders and the families and students they serve.  We are looking for a special leader to join our team and deliver on our mission of better, more meaningful and equitable outcomes for students and communities. 



The Education Agency Practice works hand-in-hand with state and local education leaders to use data and evidence to continuously improve operational, financial, policy, and programmatic decisions in the pursuit of better student outcomes. In this role, you will lead client engagements with state and local education agencies, nonprofits, and funders, conduct successful business development, lead and manage the team to ensure that our partners get real results from our work. You will also serve on Project Evident’s management team, collaborating with other departments.  

You will report to the Managing Director/Chief Impact Officer, Bi Vuong, and work closely with/supervise other members of the EAP team.   You will also lead and manage projects teams.

Below is a full list of responsibilities you can expect in this role:

  • Serve as lead and/or primary relationship manager for client engagements with state and local education agencies, nonprofits, and funders 
  • Build, manage and sustain strong relationships with our clients, technical assistance partners, funders, and staff to ensure that our partners get real results from our work
  • Lead and execute critical aspects of engagements; create and manage project plans, develop content and deliverables, manage and leverage staff and consultant expertise
  • Independently generate new leads and secure resources aligned to department goals procuring grants and contract funding to meet individual revenue targets  
  • Attract, develop, coach, supervise and retain high-performance team members
  • Ensure client-ready content and deliverables are clear, well delivered and actionable, aligned with existing protocols, are well documented, and improved as needed
  • Ensure that client close out includes learning and development opportunities for staff, captures content for use in communications and field building, and ensure documentation integrity
  • Leverage and deepen relationships within state and district education leaders, nonprofits, and funders
  • Ensure alignment with contract and grant development and reporting protocols

You are a strong leader with a deep career and passion for K-12 education. You immediately contribute to the practice and team because you have extensive, practical experience in the areas described below. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced and hybrid environment.

Below is a full list of requirements in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • 12+ years with progressively increased experience in management responsibilities in K-12 Education consulting and evidence of client management experience including securing a portfolio of business. Experience in nonprofit, education, finance, policy, evaluation, data, or consulting contexts
  • 7+ years effective management experience including project management, team management and supervision, financial and/or planning
  • Demonstrated success with business development and client management
  • Proven ability to successfully manage clients and client projects, including working effectively with multiple stakeholders who may have evolving priorities
  • Demonstrated success developing and designing curriculum/workshop content; ability to provide successful training sessions, coaching, and implementation support
  • Ability to translate data and share information in an understandable and actionable manner to external stakeholders 
  • Ability to commit to high performance culture; possess belief in continuous and self-improvement
  • Knowledge of budget models and financial forecasts, a plus
  • Hybrid/remote role; must be located in the Midwest, Northeast or Mid Atlantic with a strong preference for candidates based in: Boston, Chicago, or New York City
