Summary:
Our client is seeking an Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will play a crucial role in ensuring that our digital products and services are accessible to people with disabilities. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, a deep understanding of accessibility standards and guidelines, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:
● Work with our existing audit vendor to audit the accessibility of digital properties.
● Refine and quality-check accessibility issues found during an audit and propose solutions.
● Participate in regular status meetings with testing vendors.
● Manage process for analyzing “stale” (outdated) accessibility issues.
● Assist in updating and improving accessibility program documentation.
● Assist in developing and delivering accessibility training sessions, as needed.
● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
● US and Canada only; at least 50% Eastern Time Zone coverage is required.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
● Proficiency with the English language is required.
● In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1 is required.
● At least three years of experience auditing interactive web applications against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is required.
● At least one year of experience writing Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) using the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is required.
● At least five years of experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and content creators, to integrate accessibility into the product development lifecycle is required.
● Working knowledge of desktop screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver is required.
● Ability to determine proper remediation techniques for WCAG violations and convey to developers, designers, and other stakeholders is required.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
● Knowledge of Section 508 ICT Guidelines and EN 301 549 Standards is preferred.
● Strong technical background in web development, software engineering, or a related field is preferred.
● Working knowledge of mobile screen readers such as VoiceOver and TalkBack is preferred.
 
 
Primary Location Pay Range:  $80,000 - $110,000 per year
