The team

This role sits within the “Architecture” team. This is a key function under the Technology BU at Funding Circle which is a key contributor to the organisation's tech strategies and vision. This is an individual contributor at a senior level in the technology team.


What will you be doing?

As an Enterprise Architect, you will collaborate with Principal and Lead Engineers, fellow architects, and other senior stakeholders to develop an Enterprise Architecture target state that helps to realise the strategic vision.

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand and communicate our business strategies in order to shape and influence the architecture to deliver them
  • Author, edit, and curate catalogues, models, and other documents describing our current and proposed business and technology architecture
  • Establish and maintain the common principles, standards, patterns and technologies that we use, in collaboration with domain architects and other technology stakeholders
  • Help to define, operate, and continuously evolve the frameworks and processes through which we make disciplined technology decisions
  • Provide guidance and direction to domain architects and other technologists to ensure cohesion and keep sight of the ‘bigger picture’


Are you?

  • Fluent in both the language of the business and that of technology?
  • Skilled in striking a balance between the need for governance and design constraints with that for enabling autonomy in order to promote agility and respond to business opportunities?
  • Knowledgeable about common architectural patterns and styles such as event-driven architectures, stream processing, event-sourcing, microservices, container and serverless architectures?
  • Experienced in the development and design of scalable, performant, robust and fault-tolerant software architectures?
  • Experienced in the use of AWS and a range of open source technologies including Apache Kafka and Kubernetes?
  • Experienced in the use of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, O-AA?
  • A skilled negotiator and influencer, able to reach consensus on architectural decisions?
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to get across complex ideas both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences?
  • Passionate about enterprise architecture, and able to clearly articulate its benefits to a variety of audiences?
