Description

Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled work activities while sustaining a safe work environment. Respond to emergency events such as power outages, broken pipes, weather events, etc. Manage moves and renovations as well as various vendors/contractors. Independently manage complex systems and a diverse team of 3-5 technicians to support operations.
Contribute Maintenance expertise to site equipment and facility infrastructure. Promote the realization of investment and/or continuous improvement projects in order to ensure continuity of services of equipment and installations to meet manufacturing, safety, reliability, and environmental goals.
Main Accountabilities:
  • Implement Facilities Management systems and team at the site, including development of SOPs/systems, hiring required staff, and developing relationships with vendors/contractors.
  • Manage facilities maintenance technicians and equipment to perform preventive maintenance tasks on chemical preparation and processing machines, robotic systems, HVAC systems, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize production disruptions.
  • Assist in developing preventive maintenance plans and procedures for equipment site wide.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers for complex repairs or replacements as needed
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance for both company employees and outside contractors with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections and address any hazards or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment inspections for regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and support implementation of improvements to reduce waste, reduce energy consumption, and improve safety.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior maintenance technicians on equipment maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in PCR technology and maintenance best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Implement systems to maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory logs.
  • Generate reports on equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and performance metrics for management review.
Studies – Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field required. Engineering degree and experience preferred. Additional technical certifications or vocational training preferred.
  • 4 years relevant experience required. Experience in engineering (manufacturing, maintenance, automation preferred) in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry preferred. Certifications or vocational training can reduce required experience, but minimum 3 years is required regardless of certifications.
  • Leadership experience preferred but not required as this is a development position. Expected team of 2-4 direct reports.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in hands-on troubleshooting and safe repair of mechanical, electrical and automation systems. Strong knowledge of automated processing equipment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.
