Job Summary

The Packaging Manager is responsible for the safe and accurate packaging of all products.  The Packaging Manager will ensure packaging schedules are executed as well as maintaining the chain of integrity of our premium cannabis products from processing to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by performing Safety Audits and Safety Corrective Actions as required. 
  • Responsible for the adherence and management of the AYR Operating System (AOS) within the assigned area.
  • Responsible for the operational procedures for accurate filling, packaging, and labeling of all products ensuring compliance    with company, local and state policies and procedures and product specifications.
  • Responsible for the adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to ensure the safety and efficacy of all products.
  • Manages project timelines and ensures daily production schedules and goals are met.
  • Hires, schedules, trains and evaluates Packaging Technicians, monitors performance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify any potential problems resulting from timing, insufficient technical capacities, low inventory levels or staffing matters and develops strategies to overcome.
  • Responsible for the documentation of line inefficiencies and downtime to identify issues and provide recommended solutions.
  • Responsible for coordination with Quality Assurance department to ensure that process parameters and quality testing is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate completion of all production records, quality records and electronic reporting tools.
  • Assists in fostering a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while perpetuating a curiosity for “everything cannabis”.

Qualifications

  • Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies.
  • Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies.
  • Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies.

Education

  • High school diploma/GED required.  
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience

  • 4-6 years’ experience and excellence in managing projects and teams.
  • Prior experience working in general production preferred.

Working conditions

  • The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.
  • The person in this position is constantly exposed to moderate background noise due to environmental systems, equipment and fans. 

Physical requirements

  • Frequently operates computer and other standard office equipment such as printers, phones, and photocopy machines.
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position when accessing inventory or when operating the computer.
  • Sitting, standing and walking motion/movement will be required throughout the shift.
  • Constant movement of hands/fingers and limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
  • Must be able to inspect and detect quality deviations and defects.
  • Occasional lifting, positioning or moving items up to 100 pounds.
