Job Summary
The Facilities Operations Manager is an execution-focused role responsible for the daily operation of the facility’s maintenance, utilities, and sanitation programs. While the Facilities Manager owns strategy, systems, and capital investment, the Facilities Operations Manager ensures that the day-to-day work gets done — on time, safely, and to standard. This role directly supervises the facilities and sanitation team, manages MaintainX work orders, drives preventive maintenance completion, and ensures the facility remains safe, clean, and audit-ready at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment through daily walkthroughs, hazard identification, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Lead and execute daily facilities maintenance and sanitation operations across the site.
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of building infrastructure including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
- Own MaintainX ticket management — ensuring timely assignment, execution, closure, and system accuracy of all work orders.
- Execute and manage preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring all PM tasks are completed on time and documented.
- Ensure sanitation and cleaning programs are executed consistently and meet site, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain and update SOPs for facilities and sanitation processes.
- Supervise, schedule, and support the daily activities of facilities and sanitation personnel.
- Assign and prioritize work orders, repairs, and PM activities in coordination with the Facilities Manager and Director of Operations.
- Maintain critical spare parts, maintenance supplies, and sanitation inventory.
- Manage attendance tracking for facilities team and execute required actions in accordance with company policy.
- Support maintenance and sanitation budget tracking and cost control as directed by the Director of Operations.
- Identify and implement efficiency and reliability improvements across facility operations.
- Respond to facility issues and urgent maintenance needs after hours, on weekends, or on holidays as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems — with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues directly.
- Working knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair. (Electrical certification preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with commercial HVAC systems, including diagnostics and maintenance. (HVAC Certification preferred)
- Experience with CMMS/work order management systems (MaintainX preferred).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
Education
- Associate’s degree or trade certification in a relevant field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of work and education experience accepted.
Experience
- 5–7 years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience, preferably in agriculture, biotech, cannabis, or regulated manufacturing.
- Journeyman electrician license or equivalent electrical experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supervising facilities or maintenance teams.
Working Conditions
This person may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree. This position is based in Gainesville, FL.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, and walking motion/movement required throughout the shift.
- Frequently ascends/descends a ladder and uses scissor lift to inspect/maintain equipment.
- Occasionally works in outside conditions including exposure to inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
- Occasional lifting, positioning, or moving items up to 100 pounds.
