Job Summary

The Extractions Manager is responsible for all extraction processes at AYR Wellness, spanning across a variety of extraction methodologies. Overseeing the Extraction Department, the EM is responsible for management of day-to-day operations of the department, employee onboarding and training, product research and development as it relates to cannabis extractions and concentrates, and oversight of inventory. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring a Safe working environment by performing Safety Audits and Safety Corrective Actions as required.
• Responsible for the adherence and management of the AYR Operating System (AOS) within the assigned area. 
• Responsible for the scheduling of labor and management of daily adjustments to ensure production requirements are achieved.
• Responsible for hourly/daily auditing of their area of responsibility to ensure the team has all the proper tools necessary to be successful  
• Responsible for the oversight, evaluation and improvements of extraction process efficiency, quality, and output in accordance with AYR National Standards.    
• Responsible for the oversight of departmental compliance with all regulations and all other safety and security measures as required by state and municipal codes 
• Responsible for ensuring all AYR Wellness extraction policies and procedures to staff of Extractions Department  
• Coordinates with Cultivation, Processing, and Scheduling management to ensure output to match patient/customer demand   
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all inventory tracking and control policies and procedures, including frequent daily entries, updates, and reviews of all information within inventory tracking and control software   
• Assists in fostering a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while perpetuating a curiosity for “everything cannabis”
• Other Job Duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

• Acute problem-solving skills coupled with a strong mechanical aptitude   
• Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment   
• Strong knowledge in pharmaceutical formulation and plant genetics 
• Expertise in various extraction methods as well as the purification, separation, and isolation of various compounds of cannabis  
• Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies 
• Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies 
• Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies

Education

• High school diploma/GED required 
• College degree in Chemistry or equivalent highly preferred, or equivalent industry experience required 

Experience

3-5 years management experience in a laboratory environment

Working conditions

• The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.
• Frequently works in rooms with bright light where eye protection is required.
• Frequently works in rooms with moderate heat and humidity.
• The person in this position is constantly exposed to moderate background noise due to environmental systems, equipment, and fans.
• Must be able to work on weekends or alternate shifts.
