Description

American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH) is seeking a Systems Engineer I to join our Information Technology Operations department.

The System Engineer I is responsible for the design, integration, and optimization of information systems within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the availability, performance, and scalability of IT infrastructure. The System Engineer I will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect solutions and act as a liaison in the administration, maintenance, and support of a resilient and highly available infrastructure. This role offers opportunities to grow technical expertise and support the development of team capabilities through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Salary Range
American Specialty Health complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $89,300 to $100,000 Full-Time Annual Salary Range.

Remote Worker Guidelines
  • Remote Worker Guidelines: This position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum 50 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload speed.)


Responsibilities

  • Performs daily System Engineering tasks.
    • Develop and implement automation solutions for system operations, leveraging coding best practices and industry standards to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
    • Work with System Administrators to develop skill level and knowledge in our environment.
    • Lead and plan tasks required for upgrades, migrations, optimizations, and new implementations within a hybrid infrastructure.
    • Execute tasks required for upgrades, migrations, optimizations, and new implementations within a hybrid infrastructure.
    • Executes tasks related to security configuration, monitoring, and auditing of the infrastructure environment.
    • Design, develop, test, and implement systems, applications, and project-based solutions in alignment with organizational requirements and technical standards.
    • Provides support for applications and actively participates in workflow optimization based on department and project demands.
    • Maintains critical monitoring systems and responds to alerts. Provides constant feedback and assists with continuous enhancements to the monitoring platforms.
    • Part of emergency on-call rotation.
    • Trains Service Desk and System Administrator team on systems and applications through documentation and hand-off.
  • Provides system administration escalation support.
    • Respond to escalated tickets from the System administrator team that require support and follow appropriate ticketing procedures.
    • Collaborate with other IT team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical support issues.
    • Performs other end user technical support as needed.
    • Act as backup support for administrator team as needed.
    • Provides training and guidance to System Administrator team to increase knowledge.
  • Documentation and Reporting.
    • Develops, maintains, and organizes documentation around systems, processes, and work instructions critical to day-to-day operations and systems design.
    • Provides updates as required for audit requests, both internal and external.
    • Documents and create design layouts for new projects and associated tasks.
  • Attends industry seminars, conferences, training classes and reads industry journals to stay current on technology.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience required. If equivalent experience, high school diploma and 4+ years of experience in System Administration role required.
  • 3 years experience with Windows OS environments required. 5 years preferred.
  • 1 year experience with Cloud technologies required. 3 years preferred.
  • 3 years experience working in a regulated field or compliance driven field such as healthcare or finance preferred.
  • 3 years experience with IaC utilizing Bicep, PowerShell, or Python preferred.
  • 1 year experience with Linux based OS – Linux LPI or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Capability of architecting, integrating, and implementing functional solutions within a secure environment.
  • Research and development of existing architecture to enhance system efficiencies.
  • Development and maintenance of automation frameworks and tools.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to System Administration team.
  • Ability to have informed discussions for upcoming changes, projects, or other defined tasks as the lead.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team to transition completed projects, ensuring the delivery of all associated documentation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize PowerShell, Python, or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and availability of IT resources utilizing industry tools such as Solarwinds or Dynatrace.
  • Implement and enforce security related requirements, such as vulnerability remediations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing and administering identity and access solutions using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including user provisioning, group policy management, authentication protocols, and directory synchronization.
  • Share information in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Interact in a positive, respectful manner to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other ITIL platforms
  • Demonstrated accuracy and productivity in a changing environment with constant interruptions.
  • Develop precise system documentation for routine tasks to ensure consistency by other administrators.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Perform routine standardized maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, and backups.
  • Exercise strict confidentiality in all matters.
  • Microsoft AZ-801: Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services Upon Hire preferred.
  • Linux LPI or equivalent Upon Hire preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) Upon Hire preferred. or
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator (AZ-104) within 180 Days required.
  • CompTIA Security+ Upon Hire preferred.
  • ITIL Foundations Upon Hire preferred.
