What we’re looking for   

Argus is seeking an experienced Market Specialist to be responsible for raising stakeholders' usage of Argus indexes, both internally within their organizations, and externally in contracts with counterparties.    

    

What will you be doing?
This is a high-profile position within the Argus organization, offering exposure to regional and global leadership.    

Argus is seeking an energetic, analytical market development manager who will:   

  • operate within Argus' matrix organization, occupying a central role between leadership, editorial, & sales.
  • act as a liaison to pricing staff, junior oil product traders, and analysts at major oil companies.
  • maintain a direct line of communication to Argus editorial staff, representing the interests of external stakeholders and promoting product enhancements (new/amended indexes) as necessary.
  • identify challenges, changes, & opportunities in East of Rockies petroleum product markets, escalating these within the Argus organization as appropriate.
  • develop and execute annual strategic plan to maintain and grow usage of Argus' petroleum product indexes.
  • collaborate with editorial staff to develop new indexes and change existing indexes, in consultation with traders and index users.
  • collaborate with marketing staff and other bd managers to develop and enhance messaging around Argus' petroleum product indexes.

    

What we're looking for in you?   

The ideal candidate will:   

    

  • live in Houston, full-time.
  • have at least 3 years’ experience in petroleum product markets, ideally within pricing, risk, or analysis.
  • have a keen interest in commodity markets, the ambition to be great at what they do, and a desire to grow within the organization.
  • have good mental arithmetic and mathematical instincts.
  • be a listener, capable of hearing and understanding the positions of the various parties to a given discussion, both internal and external.
  • have the maturity and organizational skills to manage internal stakeholders in a productive & efficient manner.
  • be comfortable with a varied workload, and the likely need to pivot within an agreed role & strategy as market conditions evolve.
  • communicate very, very clearly over email, over video chat, and in person.
  • stick to a plan that has been agreed with company leadership, ignoring the attraction of their comfort zone or the demands of other departments within Argus.
