What will you be doing?    

     

Business development    

The Americas Consulting team supports clients throughout North and South America, executes engagements in the areas of strategy, market due diligence, investment analysis, logistics evaluations, and energy transition. Americas Consulting supports all the commodity areas that Argus Media covers (e.g., crude, refined products, chemicals, fertilizers, and metals).  As Principal, you will partner with Americas Consulting leadership and the Argus sales team to build and strengthen client relationships. You will develop a pipeline of consulting work and promote Argus competitive advantages. As a leader you will work with our senior sales leaders and business development teams in the Latin American region to develop a Consulting business focused on large NOCs, Tier 1 regional operators, and the local subsidiaries of global competitors in commodity markets.     

Project delivery    

Argus undertakes custom tailored commissioned assignments for a wide variety of clients. Clients include governments, national oil and energy companies, multi-nationals, the finance sector, energy traders, upstream, midstream, and downstream independents, consultancies, and energy services providers.  You will lead a variety of engagements that respond to client inquiries, develop proposals, and win business in all commodities areas that Argus covers. You will lead a team of consulting managers and analysts and will be responsible for the quality of the consulting work that your team delivers from lead development through execution. This includes responding timely with end-deliverables and ensuring excellent client experiences across all commodity sectors.    

People leadership and knowledge development    

As Principal, you will lead part of the Americas Consulting team and report directly to the VP Consulting, Americas. You will develop talent and manage your team’s performance as well as support the growth initiatives of the consulting business. You will liaise with Argus’ network of subject matter experts to ensure current knowledge of Argus offerings. You will maintain current knowledge of major drivers and trends across commodity markets and identify opportunities to promote consulting services. As a member of the Americas Consulting leadership, you will contribute to strategy planning and implementation of the plans.    

      

What we’re looking for in you:    

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Energy and commodity industry experience, achieved from Strategy and business planning for a major energy company or energy research organization and/or consulting in areas of strategy or performance improvement and/or leadership position for a major energy company or energy research organization, and focus on refining and/or chemicals is a plus.
  • Proven experience engaging in the consulting sales process (or similar business development process), including defining engagement scope and developing commercial offers.
  • Demonstrated interest in the energy transition and an understanding of renewable energy systems, net-zero emission targets, energy regulation, economics and technology would be viewed favourably.
  • Intellectually curious and capable of structuring and leading projects, including developing complex project options, knowledgeable of the commodity areas that Argus supports, and ability to developing conclusion from the analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and capable of making a significant contribution to project sales and processes.
