What will you be doing?

 

Argus is seeking a Lead Consultant (Principal Consultant) to provide subject matter expertise for our olefins subscription services, including market reports, price forecasts/monthly outlooks, and biannually released fundamentals analytics with forecasts (capacities, supply, demand and trade flows).   This senior position is pivotal to Argus' global success.   You will support the Vice President and work closely with other consultants and analysts across the sector in various regional offices to deliver high-quality products, engage with clients and develop product innovation and industry insights.

 

  • Cultivate deep understanding of Asian olefins-related markets, deep understanding of capacity development, the cost to produce from the various routes, the dynamics of the PP/PE chain and understanding of the dynamics of the other derivatives - EO/PO/ACN etc. and their downstream chains.
  • Forge strong business relationships with petrochemical industry executives, industry and client relationships.
  • Share key, actionable business insights from industry meetings with the sector.
  • Establish themself as a thought leader underpinned by consistent marketing and business development output, including industry presentations and client meetings.
  • Verify data integrity and global data flow and contribute to olefins fundamental analytics and monthly price outlooks.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the product deliverables and make the process and coordination more efficient.
  • Support the sector’s annual AAV growth targets by prioritizing client needs with product development and innovation.
  • Work closely with Data, Data Science and Technology teams, as required, to improve efficiency and speed of deliverables and support the Chemical Analytics vision for the development of dashboards and scenario analysis tools.

 

 

What we’re looking for in you

 

  • 5-10 years of recent experience focused on pricing, market conditions and trends, capacity and supply & demand for ethylene and olefins
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Economics or industry-related fields.
  • High level of understanding of petrochemicals, oil and gas.
  • Research and analysis experience from planning departments and/or consulting positions is a plus.
  • Highly accomplished collecting, monitoring, analysing and communicating market data.
  • Experienced conducting regional and/or global market analyses that identify and interpret economic drivers, supply/demand fundamentals, trade flows and capacity data.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.
  • Comfortable with preparing and delivering presentations to industry professionals.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project.
  • Experience with R, Python or SQL is preferred, but strong willingness to learn and technical aptitude is a requisite.
