ABOUT THE ROLE          
        
At 3Degrees, we are driving sustainable change in the renewable energy sector, and we’re seeking a passionate and dynamic professional to join our Environmental Markets division focused on the origination of biogas GOs (Guarantees of Origin). In this role, you will contribute to a committed and progressive team dedicated to shaping our strategy and driving wholesale growth across Europe. You will be accountable for 3Degrees European biogas offering, scaling the portfolio of carbon-neutral biogas producers and off-takers.  Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and managing new and existing customer relationships whilst proposing and structuring purchases and sales of biogas GOs.           
        
This opportunity is open to candidates ideally based within a commutable distance of our offices in Oslo, Norway, where you can enjoy a flexible, hybrid-working pattern in a collaborative environment. Exceptional candidates based remotely elsewhere in Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, or Spain may also be considered. This role reports to the Lead Portfolio Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL DO        
         
Commercial:          
        
  • Lead the origination of biogas GO purchases and sales, propose new trading strategies, and respond to RFPs (Request For Proposals) to achieve portfolio objectives; Track
    market dynamics to support portfolio
    management and strategy          
  • Identify and execute on new portfolio opportunities and trading strategies, including hedges, derivatives, fundamental and technical trading, arbitrage, and others, while
    ensuring adherence to our own risk policy
              
  • Support our Commercial sales and consulting teams, originating supply in preparation for, or in response to, Commercial customer procurement          
        
Pricing & Portfolio Management:        
          
  • Ensure the accuracy of portfolio positions and the accuracy of our market pricing and mark-to-market valuations        
  • Contribute to portfolio management, including position tracking, risk identification, deliveries, receipts and audits
            
Identify Trading Opportunities:          

  • Collecting and sharing with the team data and insight on market fundamentals, relative liquidity, forward outlook, regulatory events, impact of legislation on markets, the
    preferences and drivers leading to buyer and seller decisions
              
  • Work with analysts to develop market models which help identify trading strategies and manage risk          
        
ABOUT YOU        

  • Seasoned commercial lead with a proven track record of identifying and negotiating wholesale purchases and sales          
  • Deep knowledge of renewable gas technologies, feedstocks, and certification criteria in relation to different sustainability reporting standards as well as related EU policies        
  • Strategic thinker/planner who will collaborate with the team on developing a multi-year plan for growing our business          
  • 5+ years of experience building and managing an environmental commodity portfolio, including identifying, monitoring, and managing risk          
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English. High proficiency in additional European language(s) will be regarded as a benefit          
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, pivot quickly, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining composure under pressure          
  • Collaborative and positive team player with the ability to work independently           
  • Creative thinker, proactive, highly resourceful, and comfortable working in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment          
  • Sense of humor (highly encouraged, though not required)          
          
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS           
        
Within 30 days,          

  • You will have developed a practical understanding of our in-house portfolio management tool and will be capable of navigating the system to find purchase and sales orders          
  • You will be able to operate internal tools, especially our proprietary trading platform, at a basic level, confidently adding and managing contact lists          
  • You will have gained the fundamentals of our basic origination and trading strategies and how we act in the European biogas market          
  • You will have started to work cross-functionally across 3Degrees, engaging and establishing relationships with trade operations (back-office), contract management, market
    analysis, and business partnerships, and understand how we execute trading strategies  
      
           
Within 90 days,          

  • You will be working with minimum supervision, actively managing commercial relationships while closing trades           
  • You will be actively engaging with, and growing, your own network and building your customer portfolio, using the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool to
    track and record your progress 
            
  • You will have developed a more advanced understanding of the portfolio management tool allowing for the preparation of customer deliveries and procurement 
              
Within 6 months,          

  • You will have gained a robust understanding of the overall business layers to enable your own contribution and input into internal process improvements to help
    streamline the international business
              
  • You will be independently implementing your own origination and procurement strategies and clearly demonstrating your ability to generate substantial value
    for the European portfolio
