ABOUT THE ROLE
    
 At 3Degrees, we are driving sustainable change in the global renewable energy sector, and we are currently in search of a key contributor to support our global expansion.  This role will be responsible for the origination of renewable energy certificates (RECs) & energy attribute certificates (EACs) with a primary focus on, but not limited to, Asia Pacific. As an originator, you will play a pivotal role in achieving exceptional financial results.  This is an exciting opportunity to join our Environmental Markets division, leveraging your market knowledge, array of trading strategies, leadership, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to make a significant impact.  You'll collaborate with our team of originators and traders to structure deals and expand 3Degrees presence and participation in Asia-Pacific EAC markets.     
This position is open to candidates based within a commutable distance of our Singapore office, where you will enjoy a flexible, hybrid working pattern.  This role reports to the San Francisco, CA-based Portfolio Manager.  3Degrees does not provide sponsorship and /or relocation assistance for non-nationals in any of our roles. Therefore pre-existing right-to-work status or full work visa for the nations listed above is a prerequisite in order to be considered for this position.      
WHAT YOU’LL DO    
  • Market Strategy: Direct fundamental and technical market analysis and monitor market indicators to identify and deploy speculative, arbitrage, hedging,
    and other spot or structured trading strategies and product offerings. Work with regulatory and analysis teams to direct coverage that will result in profitable growth    
  • Portfolio Management: Identify and execute new portfolio opportunities and trading strategies including hedges, derivatives, speculation, arbitrage, and
    others. Manage trading decisions within independent risk limits    
  • Origination: Lead the Origination team in defining and achieving its goals and partner closely with Trading to achieve overall portfolio objectives, supporting
    both wholesale and commercial growth. Develop new and existing relationships with counterparties, proposing and structuring renewable energy certificate transactions     
  • Expand REC Portfolio: Work with the rest of world (ROW) EAC desk to expand the international portfolio by contributing to overall portfolio strategy and risk
    identification, management, and reporting. Recommend new market opportunities to relevant Environmental Markets leaders    
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with our existing team of voluntary market experts, including our internal sales, trade operations, regulatory, finance, marketing, IT and other teams

We believe candidates with the following qualifications will be set up for success in this role, including:     
  • Proven Track Record: Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental markets, including at least 2 years of trading experience in global voluntary EACs    
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of voluntary REC & EAC markets    
  • Trading Experience: Extensive experience executing trades in the voluntary REC or carbon markets and ability to produce strong P&L from large and complex
    environmental commodity portfolios    
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team building, staff development and management    
  • Instrument Proficiency: Familiarity with a range of trading instruments and structures, including futures and options    
  • Market Insight: Strong knowledge of existing REC standards, global reporting frameworks, voluntary market best practices, and a well-established network
    within the industry    
  • Communication: Ability to discuss your understanding of the various market variables and their impacts on pricing, products, competition, etc. and
    communicate concepts, strategies and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to make a case for their validity and target messaging to different stakeholders    
  • Values-driven: High personal integrity and a track record of championing DEIB and other initiatives
         
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS    

Within
30 days,
   
  • Comprehensive Onboarding: Successfully complete a comprehensive onboarding process, gain a strong understanding of 3Degrees' systems, processes, and tools    
  • Team Integration: Build effective working relationships with the Environmental Markets (EM) team, including analysts, associates, and cross-functional colleagues
       
Within 90 days,
    
  • System Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing our systems, tools, and trading processes, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations    
  • Trading Strategies: Develop a set of initial, complementary trading strategies focused on the APAC REC market
       
Within 6 months,
   
  • Strategic Contribution: Actively contribute to the refinement and evolution of our long-term REC market strategy, aligning it with emerging market trends    
  • Independent Contributions and Acquired Knowledge:    
    • You will be working with minimum supervision, and actively managing commercial relationships while closing trades with independent risk limits    
    • You will be actively engaging with, and growing, your own network and building your customer portfolio, using the CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
      tool to track and record your progress    
    • You will have developed a more advanced understanding of the portfolio management tool allowing for the preparation of customer deliveries and procurement
         
Within 1 year,
    
  • Trading Volume and Profitability: Increase the company's trading volume and profitability, achieving measurable growth targets within the specified timeframe
       
Within 3 Years,
   
  • Team Leadership: Play a pivotal role in the development and growth of the global EAC team, demonstrating leadership and mentorship qualities and the sharing of
    best practices, strategies and tools
