ABOUT THE ROLE
At 3Degrees, we help organizations large and small take action toward a decarbonized, prosperous future. The Environmental Markets (EM), Trade Operations team oversees all commodity supplies coming in and out of 3Degrees, and manages all operations behind the market transactions.  The Trade Operations Analyst is an integral team member and will contribute in all stages of the contract creation and management, inventory management, and database record-keeping processes.  This position supports the EM team in delivering and receiving supply while ensuring all contractual obligations are met by both parties. 
This is a full-time, exempt role reporting to our Trade Operations Manager, Environmental Markets. This position is open to candidates ideally based within a commutable distance of our offices including Portland, ME,  San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR or New York, NY; where you'll enjoy a flexible hybrid working environment.  Exceptional candidates based outside of the listed locations may also be considered. In addition, you agree to travel, periodically to 3Degree's offices for training or team collaboration and to conferences as required.  Frequency and cadence are dependent, but on average 1-6 times annually.  Remote workers agree that their home office provides a comfortable and productive environment that enables success in the role as a “remote” employee.  3Degrees does not provide sponsorship and /or relocation assistance for non-nationals in any of our roles. WHAT YOU’LL DO
You’ll be part of the solution to drive positive environmental impact through meticulous accuracy and high attention to detail in delivery and supply of our environmental commodity business activity. You’ll play a key role in streamlining our operational workflows, including but not limited to; cutting-edge data analysis systems and automating processes. Your contributions will empower our team to achieve greater efficiency and scalability. Responsibilities include the following:
  • Accurately execute receipts and deliveries across different commodities and trading platforms 
  • Maintain accurate inventory by ensuring transactions are aligned across the internal database and third-party tracking systems
  • Act as the main point of contact for counterparties with respect to trading and contractual obligations
  • Collaborate with other Analysts and the Technology team to enhance tools and processes with a penchant for automation
  • Support internal clients as the subject matter expert on the internal platform, database, and workflows to provide internal teams with transactional or contract-specific details
  • Collaborate with Sales, Accounting, Contracts, and Trading teams to ensure all necessary information and documentation is received in order to execute trades properly
  • Support larger team projects such as reconciliations, audits, and data analysis
  • Contribute continuous improvements for workflow efficiency and accuracy through process improvements leveraging technological solutions wherever possible

  • Highly collaborative individual with 2-3 years of experience building trusted relationships with key stakeholders and willingness to go the extra mile for our clients
  • 1-3 years of experience in trading floor operations environment and/or commodity finance sector preferred 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and data integrity
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google sheets skills; including pivot tables, index match, conditional formatting, and macros (VBA).  Basic proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing demands without comprising core job functions
  • Curious and creative mindset with a passion for digging deep to solve complex data problems and proposing corrective actions
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo by persistently suggesting improvements and leveraging internal tools or 3rd party business systems where appropriate
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Environmental Attribute Certificate’s (EAC’s) 
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS
In this role, you will work alongside the other members of the trade operations team and the larger Environmental Markets team to achieve the group goal of remaining a fast, efficient, accurate, risk-reduced, and responsive operations team.  Success factors specific to this role include:
Within 30 days,
  • Develop a practical working knowledge of the key tools and software resources used, in particular our SQL-based database, email ticketing system, and commodity registries
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the processes involved in entering retail and wholesale transactions, and accurately track delivery and /or receipt of environmental commodity supply
  • Display a firm understanding of the basic trading terminology and rules 
  • Begin building relationships within EM and across and amongst key stakeholders
Within 90 days,
  • Proficient in working within databases to manage the details of transactions and products
  • Work with minimum supervision, actively executing deliveries and receipts as well as processing invoices and bills
  • Be actively engaged and work cross-functionally with teams like Trading, Accounting, Contracts, and Sales when inquiries or discrepancies arise
Within 180 days,
  • You will be fully autonomous and will be able to demonstrate mastery of the receipt, delivery, and associated tasks by performing duties to a top-level standard, maintaining high data accuracy with efficient management of assigned processes related to the database, and troubleshooting issues
  • Master clear, effective, professional communication with customers and team members when processing operational requirements and identifying potential risks
  • Develop a strong awareness of regular business process needs and actively contribute towards operational efficiency, productivity, positive solutions, and team success
Within 1 year,
  • You will be a subject matter expert in delivery, receipts, and associated tasks by being a reliable counterpart for the Environmental Markets team as a whole as well as a partner for our internal  and external stakeholders
  • Actively work with our technology development team to trial new tools, troubleshoot errors, and suggest software improvements
  • Proficient in the trading database including comfortably navigating large data sets to troubleshoot and ensure data integrity in our system
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Compensation: The minimum and maximum salary for this position is $63,900.00 to $82,000.00 in the US. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, role requirements, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise

  • Supplemental Pay: this position may be eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company’s profit-sharing program and an annual performance bonus based on personal, department, and company goals
