ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Sales team is a group of passionate professionals dedicated to achieving sales success while driving climate action. As a Sales Representative with our Contact Center, you’ll be at the forefront of our outreach efforts, helping drive enrollments in climate sustainability programs offered by utility partners to their customers. Your role will focus on proactive customer engagement and maintaining high service standards while contributing to our overall mission. You’ll play a direct role in reducing carbon footprints and promoting cleaner energy solutions. This is a full-time, remote, non-exempt role reporting to a Contact Center Supervisor. It is open to candidates residing in the following U.S. states: CO, DC, FL, IL, MA, ME, MI, MN, MO, NJ, OR, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI. Remote workers agree that their home office provides a comfortable and productive environment that enables success as a “remote” employee. WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Sales Representative at 3Degrees, you’ll engage directly with utility customers to enroll them in climate sustainability programs. Your proactive outreach will directly contribute to reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy adoption—one customer at a time. - Drive Impact: Proactively connect with energy utility customers to enroll them in programs directly contributing to a greener, more sustainable future through outbound and inbound sales calls.
- Performance & Growth: Consistently meet or exceed sales performance KPIs, including an average of 55 calls per hour, while maintaining high-quality standards, with the opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses.
- Engage & Educate: Use active listening to understand customer concerns, build value in the program, and clearly explain program details to increase enrollment success.
- Time Management Excellence: Meet outreach hours expectations by completing at least 30 outreach hours within a 40-hour workweek. Outreach hours will be scheduled between 7:00 AM and 7:30 PM PST, depending on the program’s time zone.
- Elevate Customer Experience: Maintain professionalism and exceptional customer service, representing both 3Degrees and our utility partners, even in challenging call center situations.
- Contribute to Innovation: Collaborate with the team in brainstorming, refining, and testing new or existing sales pitches to improve program effectiveness and customer engagement.
- Privacy and Security: Observe all digital privacy protocols to ensure customer confidentiality and secure data handling in the contact center.
- Attention to Detail: Deliver accurate and complete details about customer and enrollment information.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in training and meetings to enhance your sales skills and deepen your knowledge of our sustainability programs.
- Team Collaboration: Support team initiatives by preparing materials for outreach shifts, contributing to training efforts through shadowing and role-playing exercises, and working collaboratively with colleagues to improve overall performance.

- At least 1 year of experience in a sales role, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs. Contact center experience preferred, focused on quality customer interactions and driving sales.
- A confident and engaging communicator who’s comfortable initiating conversations and connecting with customers on the phone.
- Superb communication and persuasion skills, allowing you to build value and trust in the programs you represent.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, ensuring that every customer interaction is handled with care and professionalism.
- A proactive learner, driven to grow and improve within the sales profession while continuously seeking ways to enhance your craft.
- Passionate about environmental sustainability and motivated by the opportunity to make a real-world impact.
- Proficiency in Google Apps and familiarity with calling software applications are strongly preferred.
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS
Within 30 days:
- Complete onboarding and training programs: Gain a comprehensive understanding of our climate sustainability programs and utility partnerships, demonstrating the ability to clearly articulate their benefits.
- Master key tools: Demonstrate proficiency with calling software, Google Apps, and other necessary systems by navigating them efficiently during your first outbound sales calls.
- Begin sales outreach: Complete your first set of outbound sales calls, confidently explaining program details, handling basic customer questions, and enrolling at least 10 customers into climate programs.
- Initial outreach benchmark: Successfully log 15 hours of outreach, showing progress toward the expected 30 outreach hours per week.
Within 90 days:
- Achieve consistent performance: Meet or exceed sales performance KPIs by maintaining a customer enrollment rate of at least 10% on outbound calls.
- Outreach hours goal: Complete a minimum of 30 hours of outreach per week, demonstrating dedication to meeting the outreach standard.
- Active listening skills: Effectively address customer concerns using active listening, resulting in increased conversion rates and higher customer satisfaction scores.
- Increased independence: Handle outbound and inbound calls with limited supervision, maintaining professionalism and high-quality standards across every interaction.
Within 6 months:
- Exceed sales KPIs: Consistently exceed enrollment targets and KPIs, showing a customer conversion rate of 12% or more.
- Support the team: Begin mentoring newer team members through shadowing, role-playing exercises, and sharing best practices, contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- Lead improvements: Offer suggestions for refining sales pitches and outreach strategies based on personal field experience, helping the team enhance overall performance and effectiveness.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities: Take on additional responsibilities, such as leading a team training session or contributing to the development of sales resources.
Within 1 year:
- Sustain high performance: Continue to exceed sales KPIs, maintaining a customer conversion rate of 15% or more, consistently meeting outreach goals, and achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Professional growth: Take on leadership opportunities, such as helping to lead team strategy sessions, training new hires, or contributing to overall team improvement initiatives.
- Drive innovation: Play a key role in shaping the future of the outreach strategy by actively participating in the testing and development of new sales approaches or tools.
- Expand your impact: Continue to serve as a key contributor to 3Degrees’ mission by driving high enrollment numbers, helping the organization meet its broader climate action goals.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Compensation: The starting base pay for this position $19.90/hour to $24.23/hour in the U.S. The total compensation package for the successful candidate in this role may exceed the base pay as it includes other incentive pay. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

- Supplemental Pay: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company’s profit sharing program and a monthly performance bonus based on personal, department and company goals.
