Operations Manager

General & Administrative Kent, Washington


Northwest Center's Puget Sound Laundry is in search of a dynamic Operations Manager to lead our workforce to accomplish the tasks associated to provide laundry services to our varied customers. This position coordinates tasks between all functions of the Commercial Laundry operation, including coaching and training for improvement, monitoring quality, maximizing productivity and the timely completion of all tasks. This is a People sensitive position.

Location:  Kent,  Washington 

Schedule:  Full Time

Wage:  $60,000 - $70,000 yearly

Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years production/manufacturing
  • Leadership experience for crew of up to 50
  • Using and Managing Key Process Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be flexible to work Weekends, Swing, and Night shifts as needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree is desired but not a requirement with applicable experience

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Laundry Production Team to ensure:
  • Quality standards are met,
  • Monitor and communicate SPC information to employees coaching achievement of production standards
  • Monitor production pounds to labor hours
  • Employee and equipment productivity performance
  • On time delivery of all customer’s laundry
  • Continuous productivity improvements
  • Efficient utility and material costs
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Engineering and Production Leadership staff to complete all Laundry functions
  • Perform daily quality and cleaning procedures checks
  • Schedule and Manage employee hours
  • Train, coach, and mentor a diverse employees workforce on Safety, quality and production standards

Skills & Abilities:

  • Capable of learning the numerous formulas and drying times and temperatures which apply to each linen item being processed
  • Capable of learning and performing equipment operations
  • Capable of creating written operating instructions
  • Capable of training employees on the operations of equipment, processes, safety, quality and productivity standards
  • Comprehends, enable and maintain effective process flow to insure high productivity standards
  • Able to understand and follow instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills; work effectively with others
  • Attention to detail; high level of quality control/accuracy

Physical Demands:

  • Wear protective clothing and gloves as required by Universal Precautions Manual
  • Able to push/pull moderately heavy slings of soiled and clean linen (up to 400lbs.) and moderately heavy mobile carts of up to 600lbs. for short distances
  • Standing up to eight (8) hours
  • Bending/stooping at waist
  • Reaching overhead and forward
  • Twisting knees, waist and/or neck
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination
  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Exposure to chemicals, humidity, cold and/or heat
  • Potential exposure to Blood/Body Fluids (BBF) and infectious/hazardous materials
  • Work in noisy indoor environment
  • Hearing in person or by phone a normal or whispering voice
  • Availability to occasionally work weekends and night shifts
