Summary:

The Senior Cameraperson is responsible for the acquisition of news and programmes footage on location using ENG camera, sound, lighting and edit equipment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountability:

  • Be fully versed in field news gathering operations.
  • Deliver high quality, well-crafted packages from the field, that show initiative an imagination.
  • Archieve shot material and Maintain the video library in their respective bureaus.
  • Consistently send the best rushes after every shoot, to Doha for Archive purposes
  • Work closely with editorial field teams to deliver high quality live and recorded material from the field
  • Be an integral part of the editorial team; contribute ideas and suggestions that will make packages better visually.
  • Meet editorial deadlines for delivery of edited packages from the field
  • Assist editorial staff with the pre-planning of news and programmes events
  • Maintain your equipment; make sure it is always looked after. Report technical problems and issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist with development of new technical workflows & equipment associated with news-gathering
  • Follow and work within all safety guidelines produced by the network or contracted security advisors
  • Work closely with department coordinators to achieve efficiency in mission planning and tasks
  • Occasional training of editorial staff
Job Requirements / Skills:
  • Minimum National Academic Diploma or Bachelor degree in Media or related fields, or sufficient years experience with a reputable news organization in the same capacity.
  • A minimum 5 years experience working in television environment and a minimum 3 years experience in a television news environment
  • Technical skills with portable transmission systems – BGAN, Thuraya IP
  • Broadcast standards including HD 1080i, SDI, AES/EBU, MPEG, PAL 625, NTSC
  • IP Networks – TCP/IP, FTP, Store and Forward
  • Operation of Broadcast TV Cameras, lighting and sound equipment
  • Operation of MAC computers and nonlinear edit software
