THE ROLE: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing day-to-day operations activities for sites in financial aspects as well as serving as a business partner and member. In this role, the incumbent will also position themselves as a key contributor to AWS success, this includes supporting month end close, inventory accounting, early identification of cost variances and for recommendation and implementation of plans to reduce or eliminate waste as well as regular monitoring of the health of the company. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in support of month-end closing activities for multiple business units, ensuring documentation
  • Calculate and coordinate approvals for monthly commissions.  Resolve external representative inquiries related to unpaid/paid commissions.
  • Manage additional subject matter areas including but not limited to: Deferred Revenue, Accounts Receivable Aging and Allowance for Doubtful accounts
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger
  • Support Assistant Controller with Credit note processing.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding financial statements and general ledgers
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and analyses as requested
  • Ability to adapt and effectively interact with teams at different states and facilities
  • Coordinate semi-annual system user certification.
  • Coordinate annual updates for Sarbanes Oxley narratives, control matrix and information provided by entity.
  • Assist with interim and annual audits
  • Preparation and completion roll-forwards, headcount reporting, quarterly forms, etc. across the supported business units
  • Respond to accounting inquiries from domestic and international business partners
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines;
  • Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement leading this effort for the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to think creatively and critically about process improvement
  • In-depth working knowledge of the General Ledger
  • Solid working knowledge and application of US GAAP
  • Must possess strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel functions (formulas and visual basic preferred)
  • Interest in learning and using Robotic Process Automation in current tasks
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP accounting systems
  • Experience with Blackline Journal Entries and Reconciliation modules a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment

DAY IN THE LIFE:

 

In this role, the working environment is a standard office environment. The employee will be regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility. The standard weekly job hours are 40 hours. The travel requirement is approximately 10% or less.
